About a week after the events of Chapter 19, posters of missing people are put up in Martown, on trees, on windows of some restaurants, on the walls of an apartment, and even on the human police department bulding, and it goes on from there. The MIA took notice of the situation and sent Alan and Curt Swanson to investigate. Alan and Curt are watching the news on the television in a futuristic car, waiting for the time to get to the perpetrator as soon as possible.
Curt Swanson: Would you like an ash tray?
Alan: No thanks. I don't smoke.
Alan turns the volume up on the TV before laying his seat back, tired. Swanson took out his pack of cigarettes and grabbed his lighter. As time went on, they finally got the news of the disappearance of yet another person in town.
Alan: Thank God... I want to get this thing over with fast.
Curt looked over at his partner.
Curt Swanson: Why's that?
Alan: I just figured that Halloween's just a day away and Sara's preparing a costume for me to wear for the party being held at headquarters.
Alan took out his phone and texted Sara.
Alan's Text: Hey, babe. Is my costume finished yet? What am I going to be for Halloween?
Curt began to drive off as Alan sent the text. Five minutes pass, he gets a text from Sara.
Sara's Text: Sorry babe, I'm busy right now. I'm coming up with something I want to dress up as for the party. Your costume's almost done and will be delivered to our house when it's finished. I'll be working overtime tomorrow because I'm making myself a costume for the party. Text me when you're done with your police work, okay? Luv u! ❤❤
Alan looked at his phone to look at the text and sighed. He puts his phone away and laid back on his seat. Curt Swanson finishes smoking and threw his cigarette out the car window.
Curt Swanson: Mordant Street. The police have reported sightings of a giant spider looming inside the abandoned hotel building. But that creature is only to be found at night.
Alan: Hm... I guess we'll have to wait.
(Timeskip)
Alan and Curt arrived at the hotel building on Mordant Street, grabbing their weapons.
Alan: Home invasion is not really my thing, but I don't have a choice right now.
Curt Swanson: You said it, but this one doesn't feel like home. It looks more like a place shrouded in darkness.
The two entered the building, prepared to shoot anything that attacks them. Upon entering the building, cobwebs are seen all around the building's interior. The electricity has been cut off by the creature lurking in the dark. Swanson goes down to the basement to turn the furnace on while Alan looks around for the giant spider. Going into the hallway, Alan enters one of the rooms and finds a dead Taclight and a decayed human corpse sitting on a chair covered in cobwebs.
Alan: Oh my God, no!
He then grabbed the flashlight and replaced the dead batteries with newer ones before turning it on. Alan and Swanson meet up and went through the hotel, looking for the breaker box. Upon reaching the second floor, Curt Swanson gets dragged away up to the third floor by a mysterious creature, leaving Alan alone to find the breaker box.
