You sigh as another orc falls to the ground. This was your life. Ever since your brother died defending your city, you had become him in his place. It was not an easy task, pretending to be a man, but you did it non the less.
flashback
You stood over your brother as he bled onto the grass. "You can't leave", you cried.
"It is my time y/n, but you were meant to go on, live for me, and continue my legacy." And with that he gave his final breath. You did not know what to do or say. You cried all night until sunrise, where you decided that you would continue his legacy, as him.
The next few years you spent as your brother, and you got used to being referred to as Calder, and dressing as a man while speaking in a lower voice. Your mother was devistated when you gave her news of her missing daughter, and watched as she cried, but you knew your village could not lose the warrior he was, and the hope he brought along with him.
end flashback
Your parents were the leaders of Cardolan, and as their "son" you were to represent them, so you went on your way to Rivendell for a meeting in which you would represent your people. But on the way you had been attacked by orcs. Soon they were finished and you continued your journey. You got there just in time and were greeted by an elleth maid. "Greetings Lord Calder, I am Afton, let me show you to your room so you may prepare for the meeting."
"Thank you ma'am," you stated in your usual gruff tone.
The hours flew by fast as you lay to rest, and soon it was time for the meeting. Afton returned when it was time, and led you to the clearing, where you noticed men, dwarfs, elves, Gandalf, and even hobbits. You took the only open seat between two men.
