Dear Readers & Buckingham Nicks Fans,
There are two chapters remaining in this first of a two-part series that is my interpretation of the Tango In The Night era in 1987. As with my Mirage trilogy, I intend to end on a happy note, creating an alternate future for Stevie & co. The next chapter is in 1987 and then the Epilogue, in which we find ourselves on Thanksgiving Day 2022 at Fleetwood's On Front Street, as we were in the Prologue.
Who does Stevie choose? Whose marriage proposal did she accept 35 years ago, making the alternate 2022?
But more importantly...
The last chapter in 1987 is going to be brutal. Prepare yourselves. Why? We all know that in the early summer of 1987, the five members of Fleetwood Mac met one afternoon at Christine McVie's Beverly Hills home, and it was there that pandemonium erupted after Lindsey Buckingham announced he was not going to go on the Tango In The Night tour, which had already been booked. His announcement was sudden and detrimental and led to a melee...a vicious, even physically violent showdown as Stevie Nicks, in utter shock, lunged at Lindsey Buckingham and chaos ensued. More than a decade of feeling was unleashed that afternoon.
I have read accounts from all five Fireflies, including a 1991 interview in which all was revealed, and a 2010 (2011?) interview in which they all rehashed what was said in the 1991 interview and all cried, putting away old wounds and making up before the interview's very eyes.
I am writing it exactly as it occurred.
TW: Crude language and some light violence across gender lines.
Please accept this beautiful photograph of the Five Fireflies in 1987, and one of them in their final appearance together in public.
Also...
I am writing this on the night of Wednesday, October 5, 2022, two nights after seeing Stevie Nicks perform live at the Hollywood Bowl. Tonight it was announced that she has had to bow out of tomorrow's show in her home state of Arizona due to a non-Covid-related respiratory illness, and is on vocal rest to be able to continue her tour. Likewise, Lindsey Buckingham, who turned 73 on Monday (the day of Stevie's concert at the Hollywood Bowl), has canceled the remaining shows of his first solo European tour, citing "ongoing health issues." Lindsey suffered a heart attack and underwent triple bypass surgery in February 2019, and survived Covid this past spring. I say this to say this...Here's to a speedy recovery and hood health and happiness to Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham as they heal and get back out to the stages of the world. 🙏🏻❤️
Anyway, here are the photos. Thanks for reading.
Love,
Linda
