I pretended to be asleep as Jo came back into the room at about lunchtime. She stood by the bed and started kicking the post. *kick* *kick*

I sat up and rubbed my eyes "Wut" I tried my best to sound tired. "Wut up"

Somehow she saw right past me.

"I know you were awake, just take me seriously here, this migh' be hard to take. So pay attention, and try not to faint." That offended me a lot. Usually I can take a bit of beating, and she's probably kidding, but it still hurt to be talked to that way. "I'm fine. Just tell me what's happening to me!" I'm really starting to get angry. And impatient. and just freaking ticked! Jo saw my clenched fist and started backing away a bit, and talking in an even more annoying, quiet tone.

"Rin, calm down. You're confused and upse', I get it. Let me start explaining- PLEASE!!" Jo is usually a chill person, and her yelling shut me up. I unclenched my fists and she continued to explain.

"You won't believe this, but there is an alternate world, wait no. Many alternate worlds besides this one. One of the many has mythical creatures, ever heard of Fairies?"

I cracked. I couldn't stop hysterical laughing. "That's great Jo. You keep reading crazy British books, and I'm gonna go back home now." I started to get up, but she pushed me, hard, back down on the bed. Looking at me with hell in her eyes, she asked again. "Have you ever heard of Fairies?" I nodded, terrified about what she was going to say next. "You're half of one." my throat dried up.

"W-what do you mean??"  I barely got my words out.

"Your dad was a fairy. Him and my parents were good friends in the past." She explained. "Your mom is human, so you're a Halfling."

A big wave of realization hit me like a truck. "You're not human... are you?!?" the room felt like it was closing in on me.

"Nope, and sweetie, neither are you. You've never been human." She said it so calmly, yet everything around me was spinning. "So what are you..." I can't trust something if I don't know what they are. "I'm just a fairy. So was my mum, dad and everyone in my family."

She starts to take off her hoodie, and I scoot back on the bed. "Jo what are you doing...?" she keeps taking her hoodie off, and only has an undershirt on. She stands up, and out of thin air, two solid blue butterfly-shaped wings sprouted from her back. I just sat there in shock for a while, and she finally broke the silence.

"Wha' I just did is a normal thing for fairies... but... I don't think Halflings can absorb and grow back their wings after maturing without help." I still can't get over the fact that I am half of a fake creature. I mean, obviously they aren't fake. What else of my life is a lie?

Jo decided to interrupt my thoughts. "Do you want to see your wings?" I didn't think I had any, and she said Halflings can't absorb and grow them back right away... "how would I be able to see them?" I'd hoped she wasn't going to answer.

"Unbutton the back of your pajama top. I'm going to warn you ahead of time. Don't worry about the colour, it changes over time to fit your soul colour. Just worry about the size and shape. They must have matured when you were asleep by now."

When I unbuttoned the shirt, and Jo took the bandages off, I flapped the wings and looked in a mirror. Even Jo looked surprised... "They're... beautiful Rin! Huge, and look like swallowtails!" (type of butterfly) When I saw the silver- black wings in the mirror, my heart shattered. "I'll never be normal again...." I threw my head on the pillow and started to sob softly.

I am so SO sorry for not uploading in 2 months or however long this was... I have no excuse, but will start to update this story a lot more.
