ALORA WISHED she could tell her friends shit like 'i had the coolest dream ever!' or that she woke up by the peaceful sound of the waves and the sweet chirping of the birds but she would be lying.

the poor half-blood couldn't sleep at all (and no, it was not because some random camper was snoring again). the real reason was that cursed daughter of athena! alora was fully convinced that she casted a spell on her the second they looked at eachother! she just could not, for the life of her, take her out of her mind.

no matter how many times she told herself 'okay enough I'll sleep now.' or 'i swear to the gods Im going to drown myself if you don't let me rest!' alora never got what she wanted. her mind kept ignoring her, deciding that thinking about annabeth chase was more important than her beauty sleep and continued making dumb little scenarios of how their first time talking would be, them going on a quest together, flirting et cetera. she felt absolutely insane.

the only thing her brain succeeded that night was some black circles under her eyes and a need to kill someone.

"hey lora!" a sing-song voice called from behind her. she turned around and was met with chocolate-brown skin and shiny gold eyes, "selena.." she mumbled "hi!" alora waved awkwardly, not really having the energy to talk (stupid brain, she litterly told you a thousand times.)

they raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow, "what's up with you? 'blondie' still on your mind?" they winked to emphasise their sentenced. "pff," alora mocked "as if! great aloras mind is never occupied by other people." she said putting the back of her right palm on her forehead, creating a dramatic effect.

the apollo kid laughed at their friends hopelessness, but alora didn't join in. she was still thinking of bethy (yes thats one of the many nicknames her brain made up last night) and all the possibilities of her screwing up infront of her. what if she stuttered? what if she looked dumb? what if her voice cracked? what if she made an unfunny joke? (which happens more often than you think.) what if she─

"earth to alora!" selena was now whisper-yelling, desperately waving her arms infront of the green-eyed girls face trying to bring her back from her little im about to commit some ego-crushing to myself' world. "i suggest you get ready! any minute now we will have to─" their sentence was cut off by a sound of a horn signalling they have to go get breakfast.

the curly haired camper side-hugged alora and quickly made their way out the door, not wanting to be scolded by their siblings for being late and holding them back from going to breakfast for the third time this week.

alora then realised she would be the one getting her ass whooped if she didn't hurry up. the brown-haired girl quickly grabbed a black off-shoulder crop top, some dark purple jeans, an amethyst necklace (she overheard some children of hecate talking about how they can help give you courage! pretty cool huh) and lastly, her black converse to complete the look and headed to the cabins bathroom.

walking in in the dining pavillion, alora didn't expect everyone looking at her and her supposed siblings, were her black circles that noticeable? (well, this time they weren't her fathers fault! -2 'i hate your fucking guts' points for him.)

she looked around trying to figure out what suddenly got everyone's attention on them she noticed that the hermes table was the only empty one. 'oh.' she realised. 'they had to wait for us.' alora giggled quietly. she turned to the apollo table and winked at selena, sticking her tongue out to annoy her hungry looking friend. (maybe this is why noone wants to be friends with her.) selena just playfully rolled her eyes and showed her a thumbs down.

finally sitting down (half her ass thankfully not hanging on the seat for dear life this time) her eyes wondered to the athena cabin, looking for a familiar face.

alora probably didn't realise shes been looking at annabeths every action for─at least─two minutes until the said girl looked back at her with a questioning look on her face (probably looking for who was cutting literal holes through her with their eyes) when her orbs finally met aloras, she smiled awkwardly and waved before whispering something to her sibling.

alora looked away, finally understanding how creepy her actions were. 'so much for first impressions' she thought bitterly, smashing her head on the still-empty plate before her.

noone really paid mind to her actions, mostly because there already was much noise from other campers talking but her 'unclaimed' situation added to it. she was always shut out in a way, either she liked it or not. she encouraged herself saying that impressing her dad and proving them wrong would give them a sweet taste of their own medicine but her efforts seemed to be in vain.

it got lonely quickly, but alora tried her best to ignore her situation by using her imagination and making fake scenarios to pass the time. she fantasized about making friends and doing stupid things with them, talking, laughing and it worked, it worked really well but she still hoped that one day she would have someone that actually cared about her well being.

of course, she had selena but they had other friends too! they were well-liked and popular. she couldn't just make selena only hangout with her! thats just selfish! like, super selfish. (maybe a trait she got from her dad, not like she would know) but she did know that she didn't want selena to be like her, she didn't want anyone, even her worst enemies, to feel alone like she does. eventually, she accepted her life. she just wasn't liked and she would probably never be.

'just..claim me already' she thought sadly, biting her lip to prevent the tears from slipping.
