CHAPTER 9 ↷ ALORAS BIRD NEST DOESN'T GO UNNOTICED.

ALORA TRULY wished she could stay in chiron's arms forever. he was so understanding and comforting, he acted like a father and sometimes alora truly thought of him as one. yet, the noise of creaking floorboards really ruined the mood, making the camper jump back in embarassment.

some rather familiar voices could be heard from outside the room, 'three...no, two people.' alora mentally noted, trying to brush her─excuse of─hair with her fingers. 'let me try to look presentable.' the girl thought, wiping off her now ruined mascara.

"hey chiron, why did you call us─" the masculine voice cut their sentence off seeing the state alora was in. the boy stayed silent, signalling for the other person to step in.

"what's up, percy?" they questioned, obviously annoyed at their friends reaction. "you look like you've seen a ghost." the figure continued, not paying attention to who percy was looking at. 'a─annabeth?!' alora squealed, using her palms to hide her stained face. 'no no no! this can't be happening!' the demigod whimpered, accidently making her appearance known to the blonde.

"huh?" annabeth snapped her head at the sound, "alora?! oh my gods what happened?!" the gray eyes girl gasped, running to her friends side. "did someone do this to you?" athenas daughter asked angrily, holding aloras arms in an attempt to comfort her. "annabeth, im fine, really. just─just a bad hair day." the emerald eyed camper laughed nervously, eyeing percy (alora wasn't sure if she misheard, she was pretty sure his name was peter.) that─for some reason─was smirking at the two.

annabeth was about to believe the brown haired girl before her till she saw the look in her eyes. the green orbs didn't kindle joy and hope anymore, they showed despair, sadness, betrayal, making the blonde to hug alora tightly. alora gasped at the gesture, yet didn't say anything letting annabeth continue "we're friends, aren't we? you can trust me." the gray eyes girl stated calmly, yet her own words seemed to sting a little. the word 'friends' didn't sit right with her.

alora smiled sweetly, her eyes regaining their elegant glow. "thank you, princess." she hugged back, kissing the girls cheek when they let go of one another.

"okay lovebirds, how about you two sit down and hear about what chiron has to say?" the curly haired boy questioned sarcastically, making annabeth turn red in the face. "wh─why! yes of course!" she stammered, dragging alora down with her.

alora truly loved chiron, but she had to admit his talks were b-o-r-i-n-g! this man could speak for hours on end without ever getting tired! and this little session was not helping the brunettes flustered mind.

the unclaimed halfblood was still thinking of the kiss she gave annabeth! of course, it was on a cheek and it was friendly, but just the thought of it made alora smile from ear to ear. yet, there also was a downside (like to everything this girl does). what if annabeth found the gesture weird and hated her? what if the blonde told this to her siblings and made aloras reputation even worse? what if─

alora bit her lip, 'annabeth would never do something like that.' she reminded herself. 'stop overthinking, alora!' the girl grumbled, stealing glances at annabeths face. 'i mean, she doesn't seem to hate me..' the green eyed girl figured, being put out of her trance by a hand squeezing her own.

annabeth had a small smile on her face, looking in aloras green eyes. the message she was trying to get across was clear, 'whatever it is, don't let it ruin your mood.'

"well," percy started "i do not remember my father almost killing me when i visited the oracle." he laughed nervously, trying to make alora feel better, yet she just rolled her eyes. "yeah yeah, we get it peter. you're special." she retorded, earning a small smile from annabeth. "my name is not pete─" he started, immediately cut off by the brunette.
"okay whatever, with all this experience you have would you be so kind and help me understand what the oracle was trying to tell me?" the girl asked rather sassily making the curly haired boy smirk. "sure, aloha." he said, seemingly proud. alora looked at him with a deadpan expression, "peter, even mr. d makes better jokes." the green eyed revealed, making percy look at her with a betrayed expression. "okay, whatever. tell me your prophecy again."

alora hesitated for a second, looking at chiron like a small child asking for permission from their parents. he gave her a nod, signalling for her to go on, making the girl close her eyes and take a deep breath.

"emotion shall guide you through,
your wish will finally come true." she started, "the one you care about the most is the key, use your power and you will see." alora bit her lip, "your first obstacle the sea will pose, you and the daughter of war shall be well known." the green eyed girl whimpered quietly, remembering the sentences that come next, "your slow thinking shall bring your demise,
you must rely on those who cry." she ended, her eyes now dull and full of agony making the atmosphere cold.

chiron's face seemed to drop, his mouth slightly agape. annabeth tried to hide it, yet her eyes gave away her true emotions, worry. even percy looked a bit down, he was desperately trying to think of something that will help in this situation! a joke, sarcasm, a solution, anything!

"you know, the oracle's words aren't always literal." he started, hope in his eyes. "one of the lines in my prophecy was; "you shall fail to save what matters most in the end." i thought that i would fail the quest and that a whole ass war would break out because of me!" chiron cleared his throat rather loudly when the word 'ass' was mentioned, making the curly haired boy smile goofily. "yet, what really happened is that i couldn't save my mom, she had to save herself." he ended. "percy's right, dear. i don't think you will be dying anytime soon." the centaur added, his mind running off to the grand prophecy.

'have faith in the shiny eyed one, for she shall bring them down one by one.' he remembered. i mean how could he forget. the moment she stepped into camp, he knew.

she would be their key, their success. she would soon write history. it was just a matter of time.
