Once class was done for the day, the group made their way to the woods behind the botanical garden. Ren was still surprised the school actually had something like this. Then again, this isn't the weirdest part about the school, or this world for that matter. Anyway, time to gather chestnuts.
"Whoa! There really are a ton of chestnuts just laying around here. I'm going to be living large on chestnut tarts! Mmm!" Grim exclaims excitedly.
"Hey, uh, you might want to be careful there..." Morgana tires to warn, but the other not-cat wasn't listening.
"Let's get grabbing—Yeowch! Myah! The chestnut spines pricked my paw!" The fire cat exclaims as he grabs one of the chestnuts still in its prickly shell.
"Told you..." The tuxedo feline sighs while Ren checks the gray one's paw.
"It's not bleeding, so you should be fine." He says while picking up the gray feline.
"Doesn't look like we can do this with our bare hands. Plus, we need something to put the chestnuts in." Deuce observes and states.
"True. Hey, maybe we can find some supplies in the school botanical garden?" Ace agrees then suggests.
"Lead the way." Ren says and the two Heartslabyul students lead him and the cats to the nearby botanical garden.
"Whoa, I didn't realize this place was so huge." Ace said in awe.
"It certainly looks bigger inside then it did outside." Morgana comments.
"Man, Haru would love this." Ren thought, reminded of the fluffy haired gardener.
"If it's this large, it's got to have a groundskeeper or something." Deuce says.
"For now, let's split up and look around. Ace, you take the right, Deuce, you go left, while Mona, Grim and I go straight." Ren says and instructs.
"Alright, we'll meet back here in a few then." Ace agrees and he and Deuce go their directions, while the ravenette with the felines on either side of him head down the path ahead, still in awe at the flora in the greenhouse.
"Hey, hey, look at that! Over there, there's a ton of fruit growing! And it smells like they're ripe, too!" Grim says and gets ready to jump towards said fruit.
"Oh no you don't." Ren says, grapping Grim and pulling him away from the flora. "Don't go picking anything, we don't even know if it's safe for consumption." He states and the fire-cat pouts to himself.
"Ouch!" A voice suddenly exclaims and the boy freezes on the spot.
"What was that?" Morgana asks while looking around for the source of the voice.
"I feel like I just stepped on something..." Ren thought as he looks down to see something under his foot. He moves off it and the object moves into the bushes. From the same bushes outsteps a tall boy, no man, with long dark brunette hair, intense green eyes, a scar over one, and lion-like ears on his head.
"Hey! You got some nerve stepping on someone's tail and not even apologizing!" The lion-like man says angrily and the ravenette a familiar appendage behind him.
"Who are you, the groundskeeper? Not sure you out to be talking to students that way pal--Hmph!" Grim says, but Ren pinches his lips at the end, shutting him up.
"That's enough out of you." The bespectacled boy says.
"Grr! Nothing worse than being in the middle of a good nap and having some jerk step on your tail waking you up." The lion beastman growls.
"Then maybe you shouldn't leave your tail in the open where people can step on it." Ren thought to himself, not sure how to respond this guy.
"You... Hang on, I know you. You're that herbivore and two cats from orientation who made the scene. It was pretty funny." The lion man recognizes and says.
