The bus is stuffy and the only empty seat is in the middle next to a girl with green hair and lots of piercings. I silently sit down next to her. It takes 10 minutes to get to school. The school is made of light grey stones. A lot of the buildings here are light. They make the grass look even brighter then it already is There are about 600 students. 100 in each grade. The school starts from grade 8 and ends with grade 12 . They also have first year college classes for advanced students or students who couldn't get into a proper college.
I walk to the reception,which is the first thing you see when you enter the building. I make sure I walk with confidence, ignoring all the looks people are giving me for wearing long sleeves in this weather. The reception lady has red straight hair. She wears smoky make-up with dark red lips. It suits her.
"Good morning, my name is Zee-Anna Miller."
"Oh yes, morning. Lovely to meet you. I've got all your things right here. This is a map of the school, your schedule for the year. Just check to see if all your classes are correct." She says all this in one breath. I assume shes been working here for a while.
I take all my papers and thank her. I sit down on the bench and look at the map. My locker is right in the middle of the building. And all my classes are to the left of the lockers, which is towards the end of the building. I find my class with out too much trouble. I'm early so I sit right at the back. The rest of the class walks in and thank goodness no one bothers me. The teacher walks in and the class settles down.
" We have a new student her name is Zee-Anna" she says while pointing at me "please stand and introduce yourself."
" Hi, you already know what my name is and its nice to meet you all" keep it short and simple.
" CJ will be your buddy for the week, should you need anything, shes your girl."
CJ is a short girl with blond her. She wears little to no makeup. She is a perfectionist. Her books are colour coded and her back pack is blue with "save the planet" key rings. Typical daddy's girl, I think.
She is waiting for me at the door.
" Hey" she holds her hand out for me to shake.
"Hi, I love your hair." Best to get on someones good side.
"Thank you" she says. Oh,no compliment for me? You really are full of yourself. This friendship isn't going to last.
"So we have lessons as a class. So I will be with you the entire day, first class is Bio. Just ask me for any notes you need."
The first half of the lessons are good. I'm ahead in all my classes. CJ invites me to sit with them at lunch. They are a small group of 5.
"Zee-Anna meet Kacy, Oliver, Dante and Ace." CJ says
Everything was normal until I made eye-contact with Ace. It must be witch craft. I look at him and he looks at me. My body is stif. Its feels like my skin is too tight. He lets out a loud growl and suddenly stands. I don't move back. Who does he think he is, growling at me! I'll give him a reason to growl in fear!
The entire table, myself included is standing now. Dante puts a hand in Ace's shoulder, he violently shrugs it off. He starts moving towards me. My brain is telling me to move back, to run like my life depends on it. But my body won't move. The closer he gets to me the more I feel drawn toward him. What is happening?
He stands right in front of me now. I look him right in the eyes. My body is hot in places I didn't know existed. I can feel the heat emitting from his body.
He leans down and whispers "Mine." A painful shiver goes though my body. He lets out one last growl then turns around and walks away.
I immediately lose my balance. CJ steadies me with surprising strength.
