Chapter 62

Lyon didn't appear to be severely hurt from the incident with the mysterious beast, but Meredy fretted about him possibly having a concussion and pleaded with him to go see a doctor. When he complied, she offered to take him and to drop Juvia off at Lucy's house because she still didn't feel comfortable about leaving her alone. Lucy was happy to allow Juvia to spend the night, she too was very worried about Gray. She was also worried about Natsu. She had tried calling him several times but he didn't pick up.

"I think he went looking for Gray." Lucy told Juvia. "But I'm worried that he's found something or somebody dangerous."

"Well don't get too upset." Juvia said. "Natsu not answering his phone is kind of normal for him."

"I know but when he doesn't answer and he's looking for someone while a dangerous animal is on the loose..."

"Fair point."

"Those two have been acting so strange lately. First Natsu acting weird with...What was it? Steroids? And now Gray with this disappearing act. Seems to me that there's a lot more going on in their world than I thought."

"Well everyone has issues and secrets Lucy." Juvia said. "That goes for Gray and Natsu."

"Which raises the question, what are they hiding?"

"I don't know and I don't think it's any of our business."

"I know that but still...Don't you ever wonder? Like when they suddenly have to run off somewhere and they never give a reason why? Or at least a believable reason?"

"Of course I do, but I'm not my brother. I don't go poking around in other people's private lives and drawing crazy conclusions. Speaking of which, Gajeel actually did get a ludicrous theory about Gray a couple weeks back."

"Really? What did he think?"

"He thought Gray was a Russian spy."

"What?!"

"That's what I said."

"Why would he think Gray is a Russian spy?"

"I don't know. I stopped listening after he said spy. I swear, the ideas that man comes up with."

"No offense, but your brother can be a lunatic."

"None taken. I partially agree with you. But I'm glad that he's alerted the media about Gray. I only hope that the police will find him before something bad happens." She sighed. "God I can't stand all this waiting, it's torturous. I'm almost tempted to go look for him myself."

"Well why don't you?"

"Lucy I couldn't possibly go looking for him now. Not by myself. It's dark and heaven knows how many thugs are creeping around out there."

"Well of course you won't be going out there alone. I'll go with you."

"I don't think that's a good idea. None of us has a gun on our person. What if we get mugged or worse?"

Lucy thought for a moment and idea came to her very shortly.

"I think I have something that might work.

Lucy went upstairs to her room and came back with a syringe and a capsule of tranquilizer.

"Where did you get that?" Juvia asked.

"It fell out Natsu's book bag the last time he was helping me study. That's a problem he's had since high school, he always forgets to zip up every pouch. Anyway I meant to give it back to him but I forgot."

"Why does he have those?"

"I think it's for when he's working with Professor Clive. You know he uses animal test subjects. Humane animal testing." Lucy put the needle of the syringe through the capsule lid and drew back to fill it with the tranquilizer. "If anyone tries anything, I'll just inject them with this."
