A NetJames Story (Reincarnation)

Chapter 19

A few months have passed and Net and James have grown much closer. It sort of became a routine to drive to work together (at first they'd try to go about it without anyone noticing, such as one coming in first and then the other comes in much later, however people began to catch on at work so they decided to ditch that strategy), James coming to Net's office during his break to talk about how work is going (whether the good, bad, or ugly), and then driving back to James' house at the end of the day to to drop off James at his house (probably create small talk with Samantha before departing). After that, Net would just drive home.

Every so often (more like every other day) Net would stay over because he "hadn't had enough of James to have it end today." , with him often sharing a bed with James. Sometimes they just cuddle, or they would...................you know.

From time to time, James would have those faint dreams once again, except he and Net would look quite content in the dream and all the bad would be left out, so he'd often wake up smiling. Sometimes he'd think to himself that this was sort of "meant to be".

However........... For the past few months, Eleanor had been lowkey spying on Net to confirm her suspicions, and, she was right.

Wow, so Net nigh actually really like this guy. He takes him to and from work and barely comes back home just to be with..........him. Am I really that unattractive? Like why can't he love me even a fraction of the amount he loves him? (Some extra space to show long pause) *scoffs* It doesn't matter anyways, cause when Net and I get married, he wouldn't have much time for all................this.(space) Has Net even told him about, me, cause no sane person would ever try to date a so-to-be-married man.

As Eleanor held onto that thought, a huge grin appeared on her face as she sped away from James' house (yes, she followed Net to James' location).

As usual, Net drove both he and James to the hospital for work. However, on James's break, James came to Net's office looking distressed and a little.............beaten up? "What happened to you?" Net asked as he sat beside James.

"My ex came to the hospital with her husband and kid for a check up on her child as she had a bit of concerns." James answered. Net began to feel a little bit of jealously beginning to arise.

However, he pushed feelings down as he asked James "How are you feeling?" while holding one of James hands as a sign of support.

"It would have been fine if she didn't start hitting on me when we supposed to have a chat about her kid outside of the room. Then begin to tell her husband that I tried to hit on her, resulting in him attempting to give me a black eye." James answered once more.   

And though Net was quite relieved at the answer, though relief was replaced with rage once he began to fully analyze what James just said.

"Calm down Goliath. I already handled it, besides they already left so you can't beat them up even if you want to." James said as he held down from going anywhere (out of fear of what he might do).

Once Net once again seated on the couch, he let out a deep sigh and asked James "Then what would you like me to do for you?"

James replied with "Just hold me. Nothing more nothing less." And so Net did exactly that.

He laid James' head on his shoulder and swung his arms around James, rubbing the shoulder farthest from him with his thumb.

They stayed that way at for the rest of James' break. After that, their day went on as usual.

Once they finished work, Net dropped off James at his house, gave him a kiss goodbye, and went back to his house where he becomes miserable the minute he walks in.

He tells Eleanor "Good Evening." as he goes up the stairs to take a bath, leaving his phone on the counter not far from Eleanor.

As she was trying to come up with a plan to break up whatever Net had with James, she set her eyes on Net's phone. She stared at it for a bit, then smirked once she thought up an idea.

Eleanor then grabbed the phone from the counter, put in the password (*like I said, she kept it in her memory just in case she needed it*), looked through Net's most recent calls, and the name 'James' took up a good ten of them.

Eleanor felt a bit enraged at this fact, especially because Net never picks up any of her calls (or even tries to call her), but felt a bit of relief knowing that their little relationship will end soon.

She dialed James' number, on Net's phone of course, and like clockwork James picked up the call.

James: "Hey babe, what's up? Do you miss me already?"

Eleanor: "Sorry, Net's upstairs taking a bath."

James: "Then.......................who are you?"

Eleanor: "Oh. My name's Eleanor, Net's fiancée. You know, I don't think you should be calling a soon-to-be-married man 'babe', just in respect of his fiancée. Though, if you two are really are close I could send you an invite to the wedding. Anyways I- *Net calling Eleanor upstairs* Oh. I think that was him just now. He probably wants me to join him on the shower. Anyways, I shouldn't keep him waiting. Bye now."

And Eleanor dropped the call, grinning from ear-to-ear, knowing fully well that her mission had definitely been accomplished.

On the other line, James was sitting up on his bed. His face was emotionless but he tears streaming down his face. He could feel his heart clenching and his stomach turning.

So all this time, I've been with a man who's engaged, and he couldn't just tell me straight to my face before any of this had happened? James thought to himself. How could I be so stupid?

He didn't know what else to do other than to stare at the blank wall and, somehow, fall asleep.

Author's Note: Anyways that's the update for today, sorry it took so long, I had some assignments to finish before I got to this story. Anyways random question but have any of you seen the movie "Smile". If you haven't, I recommend that you do cause I just watched it like 2 hours ago and it was so good.  Though I do recommend to bring a friend (or 13, yes I and 13 went to watch the movie together) and watch out for jump scares bc there's quite a lot of them that come at you when you least expect it.
