Chapter 3 / made up

A few hours went by and I got a text from Jake that he was able to go in 30 minutes. I quickly got up off my bed and got ready.

I put on a nice tight fit shirt with leggings. I wanted to give off nice girl vibes but also a bit of a wild side, because you would be able to see my curves in this outfit.

I put on some platform boots to match with my outfit as well. I touched up my hair a little, and by the time I was done it was about time already.

Right as I was about to open the bathroom door, Bradley barges in, almost hitting me on the nose.

"BRADLEY!" I scream at him and he jumps back a little. "Sorry! Didn't know you were in here. Why you dressed up so weirdly? ARE YOU GOING ON A DATE? IM TELLING!" Bradley says.

"No! Don't tell them please, what do you want? Plus it's not a date." I say to him while trying to shush him and pull him back to the bathroom.

"What is this then? A sneaky link?" He asks me and I face palm. "He's just a friend okay!" I say to him and sigh.

"Oh wait, why am I trying to negotiate with you? I Can just erase your memory! Duh." I say to him and his eyes go wide.

"MO-" before he could finish his sentence I erased his memory of this conversation.

I proudly walk out the bathroom, and I get scared by my mom. "Did I hear my name?" She asks me, and I shake my head. "Nope! I'm going out. I'll be back before 10:30 don't worry!" I say to her and kiss the top of her head and hurry down the stairs.

"BE SAFE!" My mom yells to me and I yell back, "I WILL." I opened the door and shut it as I got out.

I walked inside the ice cream shop and immediately saw Jake sitting down shaking his leg.

Right as I was about to walk over to him I got a text from Starling.

Starling: Melody, I can't believe that chaos just canceled his plans to hang out with a friend! What if he's cheating on me? Can I come over? I need to vent. :(

Oh no... I began to feel bad but I felt a little happy because he canceled plans with Starling just so he could hang out with me!

Me: I'm actually busy right now, but I'm sure he's just with a friend. I don't think he could cheat on you!

She replies almost instantly.

Staring: ugh, that's fine. I'll just go fight some bad guys to keep me occupied. But I couldn't help but to shed a few tears.

Starling: Chaos has just been so distant to me lately, like this past month. He hasn't been acting the same.

Me: I hope you work things out. I'm sure it's nothing. Be safe fighting the bad guys!

I shut off my phone after that and I look up again and see Jake looking at me motioning for me to go to him.

I walk towards him and I sit down across from him.

"Hey!" I say to him and he was about to reply when I heard his phone dinging a few times.

"He- sorry I have to take this. It's my girlfriend.." he says to me as he gets up to answer Starling. I just sat there quietly awkwardly waiting for him to return.

He came back within 2 minutes and literally as soon as he sat back down I got a text from starling that he broke up with her.

I felt butterflies but I also just replied back to her saying that if she needed anything I would help but I turned off my phone again after I replied.

"Is everything okay?" I ask him concerned because he looks a little unease.

"Yeah, sorry." Is all he says as he sighs.

I watch as he takes off his bracelet that I gave him, but I knew he was just taking it off because he thought Starling gave it to him.

"Why are you taking your bracelet off?" I ask him as I try to look him in the eyes. He shakes his head.

"We broke up so it is of no use now." He says and sets it on the table just looking at it.

I pick it up and he watches me pick it up. "Hey, what if she didn't give it to you?" I ask him and he looks up at me confused.

"Well, uh. I mean I guess that could of happened. I mean neither of us truly knew how I got it. We just assumed that she gave it to me. I mean who else would the S mean?" He confesses.

"Well, I mean if you don't know who gave it to you then, maybe someone else did. You should keep it.. just out of respect." I say to him as I put the bracelet back on his hand.

He sighs and smiles while looking at it. He touches my hand for a few seconds then pulls away. He looks back up at me noticing me blushing and smiles at me.

"I understand that you just broke up with your girlfriend, so if you want to hangout another time. That's fine also. It's all just bad timing." I say to him sadly and look away as I kept my hand on the table.

"Hey, it's okay. It's not like this is a date or anything. I think I need a distraction anyways, you know. Clear my head a little." He says and my heart broke a little. I forgot this was just a hang out.

I studied his face and I could feel some tears start to build up, I just missed him so much. I miss kissing him. I resisted the urge.

I never asked him why they broke up, but I wanted to ask so badly. I wondered if it was because of me. Or if they just weren't compatible enough.

"What flavor do you want? I'll pay." Jake says to me and smiles sweetly.

"Oh no, you don't have to do that. I'm not the one who just got out a relationship. The least I can d-" before I could finish he put his finger to my lips and shook his head.

"I insist." He says and he removes his finger and I sigh and nod.

"Surprise me." I say to him and he just nods.

Jake comes back with a double chocolate chip ice cream and rocky road. My eyes lit up, it's almost like he remembered that was my favorite flavor.

"How did you know I liked rocky road?" I asked him smiling as he hands me mine. He sat down and replied, "I don't know. I just had a feeling."

We talked about random stuff for awhile and I finally for the first time ever felt like everything was back to normal again.

It felt so nice to just be able to hang out with Jake again.

After we talked Jake walked me home. Well, I mean. We did live directly across the street from eachother but still.

I think our hang out went well. We scheduled another ice cream hangout for the same time next week. I was so excited.

I get to see him during school and on the weekends.

Everything seemed to be falling into place.
