"Something will grow from all you're going through. And it will be you" - Anonymous
The song for this chapter is " You were there for me" by Henry moodie.
JEMIMA WELLINGTON PULLED out in front of her brother's compound. It'd have been an ideal time for a picnic but she hadn't come all the way here for that. She was here to see her little brother. Yesterday, she had received a call from him and he hadn't sounded too well, although he didn't admit to it. Jordan has always been like that, he was always ready to hide painful information from people. He hated seeing people in pain because of him.
She glanced at her son who was soundly asleep, a smile curled her lips as she parted his back.
The very idea of surprising her brother with her visit made her so happy.
Things like this happen often in adulthood, you get so busy with your life, marriage, family and other things that you forget those things that used to be of great importance. However, Jordan had been trying really hard to make things work. He'd always call, or even text, but then It's adulthood and everyone is having a taste of it.She dialed Jordan's number and he picked at the first ring.
" Hey, Jay..." She said trying not to sound too excited over the phone.
" Jemi...what's up." His voice came out as a lazy drawl.
" Did I wake you?" She said as her son stirred beside her.
" Kinda. How are you doing?" He asked clearing his throat.
" Good. Er... I think you should come out, I'm right outside your house. " Jemima announced with a chuckled.
" Huh?" It seems he sat up, because the next words he said were so audible. " Wait! What?"
"mmm..hmm?"
" Like my house?" He asked again before squealing in delight. " Oh my God...oh my God...Jemi..
" Yesss." She said laughing hard.
" Jesus...Jemi." He paused. " Wait, I hope this isn't a prank?"
She laughed some more. " Of course not."
" You're with Abel?" Jordan asked
" Yeah. Just come out here already. " She said as she hung up.
" I'll be right back baby." She smiled at Abel who stirred.
Few minutes later, Jordan came rushing from inside the house. He was wearing a loose turtle neck top on a jean, it looked so good on him. Jemima saw him coming, a smile spread on her lips as she alighted from the car leaving Abel to sleep
The moment he saw her, a wide smile spread on his lips making him more handsome. He stood on his track, too stunned to speak, his smile didn't waver, not even once.
" I can't believe my eyes. " He said in astonishment.
She chuckled and ran into his arms. He caught her and whirled her untill she felt dizzy.
He let go of her.
" I've missed this. " She said chuckling. " And this too." She said tiptoeing to peck both of his cheeks.
" Where is Abel?." Jordan said as they both looked towards Abel's direction.
" In the car sleeping."
" Mr Jordan!"
He heard his name and impulsively turned towards the direction in which he had heard his voice.
There stood Chance and Zoe standing close to his mother's car. Chance was backing his backpack and Zoe was holding her portmanteau. Her eyes were weary and her hair was in disarray, her lips parted slightly. The day's work must have been really stressful for her, even Chance wasn't left out, he was looking drained.
On seeing him, Zoe's facial muscles hardened which made me wonder how long she had been standing there.
