Chapter 13

Holly's POV

"Hayes please don't go. Please." Tears rolled down my face." He was leaving and I didn't know when I would ever see him again.

"I'm sorry. I have to go." He jumped into the car, me still crying begging him to come back. But he didn't. He had tears in his eyes and turned in the car.

"Please just be careful!" I yelled.

"I will! I love you and I'll see you soon!"

He was off, and then I couldn't believe what I saw next.

Someone ran a red light and collided with his car. Hayes's car flipped. Fire and smoke captured the air.

I screamed and cried. Louder and louder. I started running for him. But there was no use.

He was gone.... The love of my life was gone forever.... Dead.

That's when I woke up to Hayes shaking me. I jumped. My face was wet with tears and I was breathing heavily.

"Hey hey hey! It's just a nightmare. Calm down." Hayes said worriedly to me. He flicked my lamp on.

I was still breathing heavily, still confused. I looked in his eyes and everything hit me. Hayes wasn't dead, and it was just a nightmare.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"Yeah... Yeah I'm fine." I said wiping the tears from my face.

"Okay. Goodnight," he kissed my forehead and started to go back in his floor bed.

"Hayes. Will you lay with me? Please." I said. I needed him. I missed him. I knew he was right there but I just needed him right next to me.

"Yeah, of course." I scooted over and Hayes laid down next to me.

I shut out off my lamp and cuddled up next to Hayes, my arm around his waist, his arm around my shoulders.

I was still shaken up by that nightmare. I was still scared. I felt Hayes breathing, his chest moving up and down. It felt good to feel him next to me. To know he was here.

"What was your nightmare. You don't have to tell me if you don't want but it seemed pretty bad." He said, concerned.

"Well you left and then you got in an accident, and it was just..." Hayes cut me off. I could feel tears filling up my eyes again.

"Shhh, it's ok. I'm here. Don't worry." It was silent after that and soon I drifted to sleep, once again.

*The Next Morning*

Hayes's POV

I wake up, Holly still wrapped in my arms, just as she was last night.

The morning sun shines through her window.

"Good Morning" I look down to see that Holly is awake. I was really worried about her last night with her nightmare. She was so scared of me leaving in her dreams, so what would happen when I had to leave in reality.

"Good morning beautiful. Did you sleep okay?" I asked. Her hair was mess but she still looked beautiful to me.

"Yeah I slept okay. I'm hungry though," she laughed.

We sat there for a few minutes in silence still waking up a bit.

"Do want pancakes?!!"breaking the silence, She looked up at me with a crazy smile.

"That sounds great." We both get up. Mary was still asleep. I grabbed my hoodie and slid it on. I ran my fingered through my hair and ran downstairs after Holly.

Holly's POV

"Do you like chocolate chips?" I asked him.

"Well duh" he laughed.

I made the pancakes while me and Hayes talked on and off. Once they were ready I served them and we ate.

"Wow. These are really good." Hayes said rolling his eyes to the back of his head.

"Well I'm glad you think so. You can buy the mix at the store if you want." I giggled.

We finished eating and I got a text from Ally.
A- hey do you want to come to the lake today?
Me- yeah that sounds fun. Can I bring Hayes.
A- yeah sure. Meet us here around 1:00?
Me- sounds good.

I set my phone down and thought for a minute. Who did she mean by us?

"What?" Hayes asked me as I stared into space.

"Well ally just texted me and wanted us to go to the lake. But she said meet US there. Who did she mean by us?" I smirked at him.

"Ohhh, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" He asked as I nodded.

**12:30**

"Ready to go?" I yelled to Hayes who was upstairs grabbing his phone. I held two towels in my hand.

"Yup. I'll be down in a sec!" He yelled back. I waited for another moment and Hayes came running down the stairs. He jumped over the last four stairs, and stood there smiling at me.

"Okay let's go, Crazy." I laughed. We walked out the front door into the blazing heat. I couldn't see a cloud in the sky. I was already sweating.

I was wearing my light blue bikini and my white cover up and Hayes was wearing his swim shorts and a muscle tee. We had already put sunblock on. Good thing because I would probably already be burnt.

I was excited to see Ally today. I hadn't talked to her In A while which was weird. We would usually text each other. But I guess we've both just been busy.

"Wow. It is hot." Hayes whined.

"I know." I checked my phone for the temperature. "It's already 91 degrees."

We walked and just tried to ignore the heat. Me and Hayes ate lunch before we left to see Ally and her little friend? But luckily I was smart enough to grab a bottle of water for both of us. I was already thirsty.

In 20 minutes we had made to lake and Ally was already there. Alone?? Haha... no.

Next to her was a blonde haired boy with green eyes and tan skin. I wasn't surprised.

"Holly! Oh I've missed you so much." Ally hugged me.

"I've missed you too!" She went over and hugged Hayes.

"So who's your friend?" I whispered to her.

"Oh right," she blushed. "Well this is my friend Gabe."

"Hey." He waved and smiled. He seemed nice but he also seemed like you know, one of those boys. But who knows, I only just met him.

After a few minutes of talking, we decided to go lay out our towels and jump in the lake.

Gabe was okay. Him and Hayes seemed to just click. They were already best buds.

We decided to go out on the dock and we stood on the end in a line.

I winked at Ally and she nodded. We were a going to jump in together.

"1, 2, 3!" Hayes and Gabe jumped in as me and Ally laughed hysterically. We were still standing on the dock in the heat, as dry as a bone.

The boys came back up for air and gave us a mad look and then we all laughed.

Then me and Ally jumped into the refreshing water together. I was happy to be back with my best friend.
