Hayes POV

She walked away. We were done. Maybe I over reacted about things. Maybe she was right. Maybe we did take things too fast.

I started to run after her. I didn't want things to end. Not yet.

Holly's POV

I didn't want things to end like this. In fact I didn't want it to end in the first place. But he didn't understand so I just left.

I heard footsteps behind me so I tried to move faster but Hayes was to fast and grabbed my wrist.

"Hey, hold on. I'm sorry. I over reacted. You were right. Are you okay?" He said as he looked me in the eyes. He wiped away my tears in my cheeks making circles with his thumbs.

I nodded and he pulled me into a hug.

"I'm sorry." I whispered.
"You have nothing to be sorry about. You were right. Can we start over?" He said letting me go.
"Yeah we can." I half smiled, and wiped away a tear that escaped.
"Good."

We started walking back to the park and went to the swings. We sat there and talked comfortably just as friends. It felt good.

"Hayes, am I going to lose you now? Will you leave me?" I asked worriedly after a long silence.
"Of course not. Nothing is going to change. We're just going to be good friends for now. And who knows what might happen in the future." He sounded confident.

We started heading back to my house to go eat lunch. We were going out with Hayes's family to a fancy restaurant.

We walked inside to see our families all talking in the living room. I ran upstairs quickly to go get ready.

**** After Lunch ****
We got back to my house and the Griers were about ready to leave to go to their hotel. We spent a lot of time just sitting and talking at the restaurant and it was already 4:30. Not to mention the restaurant was 30 minutes away.

"Hayes, do you want to sleep over? We can watch movies or something."
"Yeah sure that sounds great. Let me just tell my mom." He said back with a smiled spread across his face.
He went and talked to his mom for a second and came back to me.
"Alright. Wanna go upstairs?"
"Sure." I replied. "By guys!" I yelled and waved to his parents. They all said goodbye back and headed out the door.

We walked up the stairs side by side and made it to my room.

"So Holly, can we just talk... As friends for a minute. Just to clear things up a bit." Hayes asked with sadness in his voice. I could tell he was disappointed but I knew it was for the best.
"Of course." I said as we sat down across from each other on my bed.
"So, what's going to happen after I leave. We'll still be friends right?"
"Yes Hayes. It's just I didn't want to rush into a relationship where we never saw each other. We might be together in the future but I just want to keep things slow for now." I said calmly.
"I hope we're together in the future." Hayes looked down at his hands. "I'm sorry, it's my fault that we rushed things. It's just that there's something different about you. I just like you a lot." He said humbly.
"I like you too Hayes." It's true. I did like him, but I wanted to start over and slow things down.
Hayes smiled. "I'm glad."
"But let's not rush into things, okay?" I looked up at him. He nodded.

There was a pause. No words just Hayes's big blue eyes staring right into my eyes.

"So what movie do you want to watch?" I broke the silence.
"Whatever you want to watch." He said back. We decided on Pitch Perfect.

Hayes went to grab his hoodie and slipped it on. Wow... Did he look cute in hoodies. I patted the side of the bed next to me, motioning him to sit next to me.

He plopped down and we started the movie.

I cuddled up to Hayes, forgetting we weren't together anymore.

"Are friends allowed to do this?" I asked looking into his eyes.
"I don't see why not." He smiled his famous Hayes Grier smile that always seemed to melt my heart.

But we were just friends now because of me.

I had to keep reminding myself that...
