Flynn Gunnison cracked open his eyes little by little, like he was waking up from a long night with a bottle of rum. The sun was brilliant and blinding, its warmth welcoming on his skin, but it was too damned bright. He lifted his hand to shield his eyes, finally able to open them enough to see what tavern inn he'd found himself in this morning. But when his vision straightened, he realized he was in no tavern inn.

"Where the blazes am I?" he asked himself.

He lay on a beach, only the beach had the whitest sand he'd ever seen. Even whiter than the pearls Arius had found when deep diving by the coral reef in Ravana. He scooped up a handful, watching it spill through his fingers. His eyes trailed farther to the water washing in on the shore, clear as glass, then back behind him to a row of white palm trees. It was as if someone had taken a brush and painted the whole world white.

He thought of Csilla and then everything replayed in his head. Sailing to West Incendia, fighting in the mist, jumping in front of that sword for Csilla.

Csilla. Goddess, she'd been so sad and all he'd wanted to do was make her smile again. But he couldn't.

He clutched his gut, remembering the pain, but when he looked down there was no blood. He lifted his white tunic to see no wound, no blood. Just his abs. He gave them a slap for good measure.

It was then he realized where he was. Limbo.

"Of course," he laughed to himself. "I guess I am a lost soul."

He dug his toes into the sand, the warmth feeling nice on his cool skin. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do next. He supposed he could try to find a way to the other side to wait for Csilla one day. Maybe explore Limbo for a bit before. There was probably treasure galore hiding about this realm.

He looked up at the sky, wondering what he should do first when a shadow blotted out the sun. He blinked, taking in the silhouette of a person, then he saw an outstretched hand. His gaze traveled up the person's arm to their face, recognizing her immediately.

Her dark hair was pulled back. She gazed down at him with an unreadable expression.

"I never thought I'd see you in all white," he said to her as he grabbed her hand and stood up.

"Shut up," Rhoda said."We've got work to do."
