The lights were dim and the dance floor was bright with all the colors you could imagine. Disco lights danced around the room in the same rhythm while now and then changing colors and shapes. The music was already blasting and the dance floor was already occupied. We stepped up onto the DJ's booth and James took back overplaying his mixes. A waitress walked over with two bottles.

"On the house" She winked at James and he smiled, taking it from her.

"That's my girl," James screamed over the music.

"She's really pretty." I watched her make her way to the front door and the bouncer grabbed her and forced a kiss. I looked at James and he shrugged. "Yeah, she's dating the bouncer. I'm not trying to let him find out, he would actually kill me" He laughed. "He's an asshole to her, we've been saving up to get a place somewhere so she can finally leave his ass."

"Do you love her?" I asked him over the music.

"More than I've loved anything or anyone in this world" he smiled and I smiled at his happiness. "She's my first love, and trust me once you find a first love you never want to let them go"

I started at Carolina, David, and Angel who found a booth seat not too far from us. "Can your first love be a friend?" The question left my mouth and I don't know why I said it.

James looked over at the three of them and grinned "It could be anyone. It could be a friend you meet now or in ten years. It could even be a stranger on this dance you're yet to meet. It could be a person you've walked by or someone's eyes you've caught. When you do find them, you'll know. The feeling travels throughout your body."

"That's kinda poetic James."

"What can I say? I'm a pretty smart and charming guy." He batted his eyes.

"Indeed you are." I laughed. "I'm gonna take one of these and head over to them," I said, grabbing a bottle.

A large  crowd started pouring in at around ten. Ladies first of course. Groups either rushed to the bar or to a booth trying to grab a seat. I headed over to them with some cups in my hand, trying not to fall. I opened the bottle and poured shots for us all. We all cheered and downed the drink. Before we could recover I had already refilled and taken another one. The night was just beginning and I'm not sure I want to remember how nervous I am.

"How can you stomach that?" David gagged.

"It's not my first drink" I stared at them blankly. "Is it yours?"

They all nodded.

"Oh god, who am I with?" I joked, rolling my eyes.

"ANOTHER!" Carolina yelped. I poured a shot into her cup and she gulped it down. "ANOTHER!"

"Save some for us."

"Do you wanna talk about what's hurting you?" Angel joked.

"We might have to have an intervention in a few years." David teased stretching his hand out.

Two hours in and we were all faded to the point of no return. We danced on the floor as James played the songs. He had a beautiful mix of songs. Most Spanish, some electric, and Sokah. I was decently surprised at James's skill. There was a huge crowd of diverse people. Obviously, that's why he brings in a big crowd, he caters to everybody. That was really admirable of him. People were drinking left and right. The dance floor was crowded and we were shoulder to shoulder dancing with people. We tried sticking with our little group, trying our best not to draw any attention to ourselves.

A few guys tried dancing with Carolina but she wasn't having it. She wasn't trying to make anyone catch a case. David on the other hand didn't care, he was dancing with a girl after girl, they were doing some dance moves I wish I didn't remember. Angel however did care, he was rejecting girl after girl since he already had one. I liked that about him. Loyalty in a relationship feels like it's been lost with time, so to see someone stay loyal even when drunk was amazing. I, on the other hand, wasn't trying to dance with a girl. I wanted to see if there were any gay guys there but sadly they're all probably at the gay clubs on rooftops in hell's kitchen or something. I've been told that's a queer part of the city.
