A soft knock at my door wakes me up. Groaning I get out of bed, hissing at the cold wood floor. Opening my door guess what I find.
No one.
Peaking my head out of my room I look down the hall trying to see anyone but no one's out there. Rubbing my eyes I look toward my desk in my room. 6:30 am, who even has the willpower to get up this early.
I look once more down the hall and since no one's there I start to close my door. Right at the last second a small box off to the side catches my eye. It's a little tan box with a brown ribbon tied around it. My brows furrow wondering what it is as I grab it and head back into my room.
The mattress squeaks underneath me, jumping onto it with the box still in hand. I carefully pull the ribbon off, and pop open the box. Inside is some gauze wrapping, cream, and band aids.
Who's this from?
Emptying out the box I try to find a card but I can't find anything inside or anywhere on the box. A little creepy but we're not going to pay attention to that.
Looking toward my hand I realize that I do actually need to put new wrapping on my fingers anyway. Going into the bathroom with the things from the box I put them by the sink. I carefully pull of the band aids and look at the cuts and callouses. I turn on the warm water and put my hands underneath it carefully, wincing when the water hits them directly. After drying my hands I put the cream on and then wrap the gauze bandage around them.
After I finished that I started my morning routine and went to grab my uniform. Pulling the blazer over my sweater I try to find my white ribbon the hold back my hair but I can't find it. Looking over toward my bed my eyes find the brown ribbon that was attached to the box. I quickly decide that it'll do since I'm already behind schedule for practice time. I quickly tie it messily around my hair, creating a messy low ponytail with pieces framing my face before I head out of my dorm. Once locking my door I put my cello down and grab out my headphones before heading to the practice studio.
I quickly sign into the studio and grab a chair before unzipping my cello cover. Pulling it up against my body, I straighten my back and close my eyes. Silence envelops the studio once I finally take out my headphones and I just simply sit in it for a minute. I quickly massage my fingers and crack the bones before shaking them out. Bringing the bow up to the strings, I plant my fingers where I want them and begin.
