When It Comes To Them (BoyxBoy)

'Our Apartment'

When the laundry was finished I took the twins and returned to the room, by that time it was already late into the night so I stripped the twins down, helped them brush their teeth, and put them to bed.  

When they had finally fallen asleep I left the room leaving the door slightly open, I made quick steps to my room and brought the suitcases out, and began to pack up our things. Though we would be here for one more day I just wanted to spend the day with the twins so I decided to get packed ahead of time. 

When I was finished I set the suitcases to the side and went to grab myself something to eat, afterwards I brushed my teeth and took a quick shower before hopping into bed. 

The next day I was awoken by the sound of the twins' laughter as it echoed from the living room where they seemed to be playing with someone. I blinked slowly and then reached for my phone, seeing it off I realized that coach may have turned it off when she returned the night causing me to sleep in.

I turned it on and sat up quickly when I saw the time, it was already one in the afternoon which meant half of the time I was supposed to spend with the twins was wasted on me sleeping. I scrubbed my face with my hands and sighed before getting up and leaving the room. 

Going out I watched as the coach and a few of my teammates sat in the living room playing with the twins. Liam laughed loudly as the captain tossed him to one of the guys who twirled him around before tossing him back.

The sight had my heart pounding but at the same time brought a smile to my face because of his infectious laugh. Coach leaned close to Mia's ear and said something making her giggle before she whispered something back. 

Looking at how happy the two of them the smile slipped from my face as I thought of how we would live once we returned back home and couldn't help wishing that we could stay here even though I knew it was an impossible feat.

I took a deep breath and forced the smile back to my face before going over to the group, the coach was the first to notice me followed by Mia who quickly got up and ran over to me jumping up. I caught her and gave her a big hug, she placed her arms around my neck and placed a kiss on my cheek.

The captain caught Liam and brought him over to me so in the next second I received a second kiss. The smile on my face became genuine as I brushed the thoughts of the next day away deciding to just focus on the twins at the moment we were in. 

With this I was able to spend the rest of the day at ease as we explored the town, going to different places to eat and pick up souvenirs. By the time we returned it was almost midnight and the twins were exhausted barely staying awake long enough for me to brush their teeth and change them before placing them in bed.

With that done I went into my room, closing the door I made quick work of changing, and then dropped into bed, soon I was out like a light and before I knew it sunlight was shining in my eyes as I woke up to the familiar sound of the alarm clock.

I got myself out of bed and prepared for the day, going to the kitchen I made breakfast and then prepared snacks for the twins to eat during our return home even packing some sandwiches for myself. I packed some of the food in the cupboards and fridge into my backpack and set it aside.

When I was done I covered down the breakfast and proceeded to clean the entire place we had stayed in from sweeping it out to wiping down everything. When I was finished I got the kids up and let them eat before getting them ready for the day. 

When I was done I put them to sit in the living room and packed up the rest of our things and placed the bags by the door. Doing one last weep to make sure the place was clean and we had left nothing behind.

With that done I waited with the twins until the coach came to get us, taking the twins I gave the place a last glance and then shut the door leaving it behind. We were taken out to the bus and soon we began our return trip despite our reluctance.

As day shifted into the night the bus came to a stop in front of our school, I turned my attention to the twins that slept comfortably on me. After spending the day on the road even if we didn't do much it was expected for them to be tired especially since we had rushed the trip so we didn't arrive in the middle of the night. 

Adjusting the twins I grabbed our bags and then got off the bus with them. Looking up at the school building I sighed and then turned my attention to the road as cars pulled up one after the other parents coming to collect their children.

Looking at all the cars it was easy to see they all lived on the good side of the neighborhood and it wasn't that there were no other children from the bad area in the school but that none of them had parents that could afford to put them on the team.

Even though I was only able to play because of the things I did, for me, it was worth it, unless one day I had to give it up for the sake of my family I would continue to play at any cost. 

Looking away from them I stopped down to place Mia on my le as I freed up my hand to take out my phone and call a cab. Soon as it came the remaining guys helped to put the bags in and then I got in the back seat with the twins in my arms.

A while later we arrived at the apartment complex, I paid quickly and left the bags under the step so I could take the twins up and then come down back for them. As we got to the door I balanced the twins and took out the key to open the door.

My brows furrowed, and stepping back I looked up at the door that wouldn't open even when I turned the key several times. I switched over to the second key and tried again but it still didn't open, I frowned and decided to just knock hoping my mom was still home.

But after the third knock, the door opened and I was greeted by a greasy-looking man with a gruff voice. He scowled at me glancing at the twins that were still asleep in my arms "What do you want kid?"

I gave him a bewildered look as I stuttered out "what are you doing in my home?"

The man's scowl deepened "what do you mean your home kid? I started renting this place three weeks ago how could it be your home, stop bothering me so late in the night and get out of here!" With that, the door was slammed in my face and I stepped back staring at it blankly.

I stepped back and slid down with the twins in my arms, I took a deep breath and tried not to panic. I took out my phone and pulled up the landlord's number and dialed it, the time it took for the other side to pick up felt like the longest time in my life.

"Hello..."

My panicked voice sounded as I cut him off and asked him why was there someone living in our apartment.

There was silence on the other end before the landlord spoke "kid what are you talking about, how could that be your apartment when you and your mom pull out of the lease."

My eyes widened and I could no longer keep myself from panicking as I shouted "what do you mean pull out of the lease, I was only going on a trip why would I pull out the lease when I have to come back?!"

The volume of my voice startled the twins into waking up, they whimpered and began to sob but I could only ignore them as I tried to figure out our situation. 

The landlord released a sigh and spoke again " a month ago your mother told me that your family would be moving since she got a new job. She paid off the outstanding rent and even asked me to get rid of things she left behind. 

I didn't think much of it since I saw you guys leaving in a car a day before she did. I even waited a few days before finding a new tenant but you guys didn't come back so I rented it out."

Listening to him I felt my vision turning as the twins' cries sounded in the night.
