I was awoken by the feeling of small and soft fingers poking my face, opening my eyes I was met with the face of Mia and Liam as there peered down at me with goofy smiles on their faces.

"Good morning brother!" They chimed together and leaned down throwing their hands around my neck as they gave me the tightest hug they could muster.

I smiled and sat with them in my arms. I learned them back and peppered their faces with kisses until they started laughing causing me to follow along.

After a while I sat back with them in my arms and looked at their little faces "so why did you wake me up so early?"

I watched as their eyes widened exchanging glances before looking at me again "it's not early..." Liam said before Mia chimed in "it's already afternoon, can we go to the park and play?"

My eyes widened and I reached around Mia taking my phone from the nightstand, looking at the time I let out a deep sigh and set it down before looking at them again.

"I'm sorry I didn't know it was so late, did the two of you eat anything?" I asked in a low tone as I hugged them gently.

They both nodded and Mia pointed to the table in the corner as she spoke "we ate the crackers and jam I found in the bag along with the bottle of milk and then when we got hungry we ate the snack packs."

I nodded slowly as I listened to her jumbled words quick to figure out what she meant because of the mess on the table.

I hugged them a bit tighter as I spoke in a low tone "I'm sorry for waking up so late, I'll make sure to wake up early from now on, I promise." They nodded and gave me a tight hug, we stayed like that for a while and then got up to prepare.

Since I received such a high amount from a client for the first time in a while I decided to just take them out to have a good time. Next week school would be resuming and we would need to return to our usual schedules so I wanted to have some fun with them and let them relax until then.

Soon we were on the road and they were skipping along as they held onto my hands, we stopped at a small family restaurant on the good side of town so I could get them a proper hot meal to make up for earlier.

We sat in the corner and I let Liam go into the corner with me sliding in after followed by Mia, this was so I could feed both of them at the same time not to leave one waiting too long.

Picking up the menu I got Mia a lasagna with a glass of apple juice and a small serving of fruit. Liam who had recently had a dislike for fruit got a plate of stir-fried chicken with vegetables and mash and a glass of carrot juice.

I got a beef burger, spicy potato wedges, and a glass of coke. When the food came a large plate was set in front of me while two small bowls with proportional amounts of food that two-year-olds would eat were set in front of them.

I put a wedge in my mouth and turned to give Mia a spoon before turning and helping Liam get a spoon, this continued until their bowls were empty and they had washed their food down with their drinks.

I left Mia to munch on her fruit and Liam staring out the window while I worked on my food one big bite after the other, in a few minutes my plate was sitting empty as I gulped down my coke.

We sat in the restaurant for a bit so we could all digest our food after which I checked that the twins were cleaned before taking them out of the restaurant. After walking for a bit we arrived at the park in the good part of town, I took them to the little's play area and let them go wild as I watched them closely.

As I leaned against the tree closest to them with our bags at my feet I heard someone call my name. I looked back and spotted a tall figure among a group of people as they walked over to me, I squinted and a name popped into my head as I recognized who the person was.

"Andrei," I said softly and he smiled softly while looking at me intently. I cleared my throat and looked away from him to his friends sending my greetings to them which they cheerfully returned.

I looked back to where the twins were  nearly becoming startled as his voice came from near my ear "Are you here with your siblings?"

I glanced up slightly catching his stare, I gave him a quick nod before returning my gaze to the twins. Yet I could still feel his eyes on me as he spoke again "I've never seen you without them, are your parents busy or something?"

I paused fighting the urge to look at them instead letting my eyes trail after the twins as they ran around laughing and playing with a little guy about the same age as them. I licked my lips and nodded "yeah my mom is working so I stay with them."

I heard him hum lowly "it seems she can never catch a break, since they are always with you it's hard not to think they're yours."

I nodded slowly and spoke in a mumble "might as well be."

"What did you say?" I shook my head slightly and stayed with the twins just as Mia fell from the monkey bars.

I shot from the tree and ran over quickly, even though the park was meant for kids her age and the monkey bars were low I know it would still hurt a two-year-old with soft skin.

I reached and picked her up just as she let out her first whimper, I shushed her and took the arm she had fallen on. Looking at the little red grazes on her skin and the way she tried to pull away when I took her arm I knew she was hurt bad.

I hissed and hugged her as her tears fell and she started to cry, another set of cries sounded in my ears. I looked down and saw Liam crying as he watched Mia, just as I wanted to lean over to pick him up someone else did and hugged him closely as he comforted him.

Andrie glanced at me lightly and reached out taking Mia's arm lightly. He raised it up and put it to her chest as he spoke in a soothing tone "hold your arm here, it will hurt less, okay?"

Mia nodded through her tears and I shushed her following after him as he walked over to his friends, looking at them they were already holding our bags and followed us as Andrei and I walked past them.

We left the park and went over to his truck that wasn't parked far away, he helped me to get in and put Liam with me before shutting the door and going around to the driver's side to get in.

After his friends got in the trunk he started it and pulled out of the parking lot, he maneuvered the truck easily and got it onto the road driving us to the nearest clinic.

When we got there he took Liam and we went in, there weren't many people there so it wasn't long before we were seen. When we left Mia had a bandage on her arm leaning on me as I kept an ice pack on it.

She blinked at me drowsily slowly falling asleep as I turned to look at Andrei once we reached the truck "I'm glad she wasn't hurt too badly after a night's sleep she will be better."

I nodded and smiled lightly "thanks for your help back there, my brain paused a little when I saw her fall."

He shook his head and adjusted Liam who had followed his sister into sleep "it's nothing, you reacted so quickly that even without me there I'm sure you would have been able to handle it."

I nodded slightly and he stared at me, he blinked slowly and looked away "get in, I still remember where you live so I can give you a ride."

The smile dropped from my face and I shook my head stiffly "we moved to a new place, it's not far from here so I can just take a car."

"Oh, since it's not far I can take you, even with a car it won't be easy for you to get both of them inside especially in the state they are in."He said as he reached to take out his truck keys.

I shook my head but he cut me off after glancing at me "I insist."

"I'll manage!" I found myself snapping before I could stop it.

He paused and turned to look at me deeply.
