Fear of Monsters

    "what did you do to him?" Mary asked looking down at the man.

    "just showing him our training and things like that." Peter said as he wiped the blood that was starting to fall from his nose.

    "you don't think he'll.."

    "no...he doesn't seem like a kid killer."

    "but kids with powers?.."

    Peter falls silent. "I don't know.."

    The visions finally stop and Daryl quickly sits up and looks at the two kids who were staring back eyes wide open.

    "so you kids were.."

    "lab rats..." Mary said cutting off the man. "Yeah, our parents used us for financial gain. I was there when I was four... Peter came when he was around 7 or 8.. its hard to remember when you were in a white bedroom with a white cot and a white hospital gown."

Daryl looked between the two kids not knowing what to say. A sort of sadness quickly passed through his eyes before he stood up.

"who else knows?"

"my uncle...and dale only knows i was a lab rat not that i have powers."

"you have tattoo's?"

Mary and Peter Exposed their wrists exposing '000' on Marys wrist and '001' on Peter's.

Daryl nodded. "So we need to keep this a secret?"

"yeah.. you reacted nicely but who's to day the others will to. And don't tell Uncle Shane you know. He's been grumpy lately and i dont wanna be punished for using my powers to save my own life."

"you have my word..now let's get you two munchkins back to camp; the suns coming up."

Mary nodded taking Peters hand in her own and letting out a breath she didn't even know she was holding. By the time they reached the camp the sun was already risen and people were pulling body's to piles. When Shane saw the kids by Daryl's side he started walking towards them, but not with relief that they were ok but in a pissed off way. Mary let go of Peters hand and sucked in a breath.

"where the hell were you?" Shane said in an angry tone not even getting down to his nieces level."

"the walker-" Mary started before the uncle cut her off.

"THE WALKER NOTHING! DARLY HAD TO GO LOOKING FOR YOUR ASS BECAUSE YOU RAN FROM CAMP!" He screamed making Mary flinch and everyone stop and turn.

Mary looked at the ground though she didn't even cry one tear. Her face ran hot and anger grew inside her.

"WELL?! ARE YOU GOING TO SAY SOMETHING?! PERHAPS APOLOGIZE TO DARYL FOR MAKING HIM COME AND LOOK FOR YOU!"

Mary lifted her head and looked Shane dead in the eyes. She was without a doubt pissed off.

"you are just like the scientists in Hawkins." Is all she said before storming off to the camper.

Shane went silent as his shoulders dropped from the tense position they were in. Peter looked at Shane then turned to Daryl.

"I'm sorry we ran from camp and you had to come looking for us. We were scared and we ran. Thank you for finding us."

With that Peter ran to the camper after his friend to make sure she was alright. Shane turned and everyone went back to work.

Mary wasn't crying when Peter came in. She was actually reading a book of Dales that he had recommended her. Peter sat by her side and waited for her to address him. Within a few minutes Mary shuts the page and turns to hug Peter. Her face was buried in his neck and she let out a few short sobs.

"he's acting like them..."

"i know"

Peter held her tight until her grip started to loosen, and thats when Peter realized she had fallen asleep. He leaned her against the window of the RV and went and grabbed two blankets from the bedroom in the back. When he covered her up he then sat in the seat across from her and fell asleep.

The two were awoken by the RV starting. They quickly sat up and saw Dale and Glenn in the front. Mary got out of her seat and walked over to Glenn.

"welcome back Glenn haven't really seen you in a while" holding out a fist.

"hey kid, it has been a while." Glenn acknowledges her fist with a fist bump.

"This is my friend Peter i knew him from Hawkins." Mary said grabbing Peters hand and pulling him over.

    Glenn offers his hand to the boy who reluctantly takes it. Glenn gives the boy a soft shake and a smile.

    "nice to meet you Peter I'm Glenn, its nice having another kid around Mary needed a good friend around."

    Peter smiles as he releases his grip on the mans hand and took a small step back.

    "you kids go take a seat wouldn't want you to fall and hurt yourselves." The man motioning for the kids to sit back down.

    The kids were about to sit down when May saw a puzzle poking out from under a stack of DVD's behind the benches they were sitting behind earlier. She quickly bent down and grabbed it before placing it on the table. Mary smiled at Peter as he smiled right back. The two quickly opened the box and started putting the pieces together. Best part about Peter is that he's always been a child prodigy. He can play chest with the least number of moves, he reads any book he can get his fingers on, and he knows a lot, and not just basic things. He know's weird things like how a Greek-Canadian man invented Hawaiian pizza or how punctuation wasn't always a part of our written language. The lab scientists in Hawkins were intimidated by him because he would always tend to show them up. (It really pissed them off)

    As the kids were half way through the puzzle a woman opened a curtain in the back and went to dale. She leaned down and whispered something in his ear and he pulled off to the side of the road. The lady walked back behind the curtain and a few minute later returned with a sweaty sickly man. Mary didn't really get to know him that much in the camp, he was always busy managing the camp supply's. As she helped him out of the car everyone followed. The other cars pulled off beside the RV and everyone got out. The group followed the woman and man until she set him down so his back was resting next to the tree.

    Mary looked around and people were crying and she started to feel uncomfortable. She didn't know this man well enough to cry for him. Shane emerged from the back of the group with a gun. He bent down and set the gun in the man's hand. Everyone bowed their heads except for Mary and Peter who were sitting there awkwardly wanting to go continue their puzzle that was inside the RV. Once everyone said their goodbyes to the man a few moments later they all said their goodbyes to the man before going back to their cars. Mary and Peter didn't want to be rude so they took their time getting back to the RV.
