Home sweet home

"happy birthday!" Aaron and Eric said as Peter set down a small birthday cake. Mary laughed as she blew her candles. As Aaron pulled the candle out Peter pushed he face into the cake.  Everyone started laughing as Mary pulled Peter into a kiss rubbing all of the cake on her face onto his.

"mm this cake is delicious" Mary said with a laugh as she pulled away from Peter.

"alright so.. we talked to Deanna and since Peter is 17 almost 18 and you're 17 you guys can move into one of the new houses when they're finished." Aaron says with a grin.

"our own- you mean our own home?" Mary said in excitement.

"yeah, it should take till this Thursday for it to be finished and furnished but Deanna agreed that you both contribute enough to our little town that you should have your own space." Eric said with a smile.

"oh my god!" Mary screamed in excitement as she wrapped her arms around Aaron and Eric.

"Hey, actually me and Eric are going scouting tomorrow while you two are on a run.." Aaron said as he put his arm around Eric.

"awe we'll miss you guys." Mary says as she takes Peters hand. "Now well be back in a couple minutes were going to go wash the cake off of our faces."

Mary and Peter get to the bathroom and they both can't stop laughing. "You are such an asshole." Mary said laughing.

"what did I do?" Peter asked with a laugh as he begins to wipe off his face.

"you are really testing me!"

Peter takes the wash cloth and begins to wipe off Marys face. As he does so Mary stares into his bright blue eye's.

"are you enjoy your birthday?" He asked as he wiped some of the cake off of her cheek.

"yeah its going great. Deanna invited me over around 5. She said she had a gift for me."

Peter smiled as he started to wipe the remaining cake from her lips. "I love you." He said as he set the rag on the sink.

    Mary smiled at him and grabbed his collar pulling him into a kiss. Peters hands snaked around to her lower back as he pulled her into his body; closing any open spaces between them. Mary pulled back from the kiss just slightly and looked into Peters eyes. "I love you too.." She whispered as she cupped his cheek.

    "hey you two finish cleaning your faces and get dressed we're going over to Deannas." Eric said from outside the door.

    Mary gave Peter one more peck before opening the bathroom door. Eric laughs and stops her before grabbing the cloth off the bathroom counter and wiping the cake out of the back of her hair.

"there now go get changed into something nice you two." Eric said as he usher the two up the stairs.

The two kids hurry upstairs to their bed rooms and get dressed nicely before meeting Aaron and Eric on the main floor.

"Ok something's definitely going on! Why are we getting dressed for a gift?" Mary asks skeptical.

Eric and Aaron exchange a look before giving up. "Fine but at least act surprised the whole towns gonna be there." Aaron says with a smile. Mary nods before linking her arm with Peters and following the two men out the door. As they reached Deanna's house Aaron and Eric stepped behind the couple with a grin. As Peter opened the door for her everyone inside screamed. "SURPRISE!" Mary smiled big at all the faces of friends around her. Deanna came up and pulled the girl into a hug.

"Happy birthday sweetheart. I hope you enjoy it." She said as she parted the hug. Her husband came up behind her and held out a gift.

"it isn't anything you don't know about but I thought you'd two would want these." He said as Mary took the box. As she and Peter opened it together two sets of house keys were in there with little lucky dice keychains on them. "Why don't you two go check out your soon to be home. We're working double time on it so it's ready when you get back from the supply run."

Mary jumps up in excitement before grabbing Peters hand and taking off out the door. As the couple walked the streets they came across a house that was still under construction that had a really old and frequently used 'Happy Birthday' banner hanging on the entry. The two walked up to the door and Peter inserted his key and unlocked the door. Mary pushed it open to see an almost complete home. There was some furniture and the rugs, but there was still no fridge on stove. Mary spun around to face Peter and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"look at us.." She whispered with a smile before placing a kiss on his lips.

"We have our own home." He whispered back.

"You know this makes me miss the group.." Mary said as she placed her head against Peters chest. Peter wrapped his arms around Mary and rested his chin on her head.

"me too...mainly Daryl...And Glenn.. And Rick..."

"do you think any of them survived?"

"I think so for sure. They were a strong group.. we just sadly got parted from them.."

"we should keep an eye out for movers trucks tomorrow.. so maybe we can bring thing home that we could use." Mary said as she looked up at Peter.

"like what?

"I don't know.. books...instruments...beds.. bedding... games.."

"Fine, but if we see a Piano we have to get it." Peter said with a big grin.

"what? Why a piano?"

"Because I wanna teach my beautiful girlfriend how to play.."

"fine, deal." Mary said before going back to resting her head against his chest.

The two stayed in the house for another 20 minutes before going back to the party. After they returned the party carried on for hours until everyone went home.
