Then next day Mary woke up next to Peter in their new bed. Mary turned to see the sunlight hitting Peter over one of his eyes as they remained closed. She snaked her arms around his waist and pulls him closer. Peters eyes flutter open as the light made the blue in his eyes shine bright."morning.." Mary whispered as she placed a kiss on his lips. Peter let out a long waking breath before smiling.
"good morning to you to.." He said back. "So whats the plan today?"
"Nothing todays our day off." Mary said before a nock appeared on their door. Mary let out a groan as she rolls out of bed and quickly puts on some clothes to cover her nude appearance. She made her way down the hall till she reached the door. When she opened it she was met with Daryl and the rest of the group.
"hey.. we don't trust these people.. but we do trust you.. can we stay with y'all..." Daryl asked as he looked around at the group.
Mary looked behind her to find Peter coming from the bedroom with only a pair of short on. "Yeah... come on in I'll help you all get settled." She said as she opened the door all the way and stepped aside. Mary looked at Peter who smiled at her generosity. Mary walked over to him and laid her head on his chest. "Im sorry... They're family... its impossible to say no.."
"I understand... why don't we spend the day helping them set up and they can shower and we'll give them new clothes." Peter said as he gifted her face off his chest so he could see her eyes.
"alright.. I'll show them where they can lay their stuff down at and you start rounding up people for showers." Mary said as she kissed his nose. Peter let go and watched as Mary walked into the living room before retreating to the bathroom to brush his teeth.
After around noon everyone was settled and showered. Mary had even gave everyone that wanted one haircuts. As Mary and Peter flopped back on their bed Daryl walked in.
"hey that man Aarons outside he said he needs to speak with you two." Daryl said as he looked at the floor. Mary looked at Peter with a confused look and went to the door.
"hey Aaron...Whats going on?" Peter said as the two stepped outside and Mary closed the door behind them.
"Deanna said she needs to speak with you two wince you know the group we found." Aaron said as he ran his fingers threw his hair. Mary looked at Peter then looked back at Aaron. Aaron stepped to the side allowing them to pass to head to Deanna's office. As they opened the door they saw Deanna watching he interviews on a TV.
"hello you two!" Deanna said as she turned to the couple. "I need you to take a seat so we can discuss that group that arrived yesterday."
Mary and Peter take a seat in the couch across from her and waits for her to ask something. Instead they waited in silence as the woman stared between the two.
"are you going to ask us something or are we just going to sit here like idiots staring at each other?" Mary asked in anger.
"MARY!" Peter said as he nudged her arm.
"That's quite alright Peter, I knew she had a short temper and I wasn't taking that into account. Now I'm sorry I'm just trying to find a way to talk about this." Deanna said as she crossed her legs. Mary knew this was her way of switching herself so she could interrogate people. "So.. this group tell me what they're like."
"we haven't seen them in 7 years... people change a lot, so we don't know what they're like. What? You think an awkward ass car ride will make us make up all that time?" Mary said still aggravated.
"well you must know something?" Deanna said as she leaned forward.
"The people we knew back then could be gone.. this shit changes people and unlike your goddamn 'town' they know what the real worlds like. They've had to do what they needed to do to survive. All you guys do is sit behind these god forsaken walls just waiting... waiting for someone bigger and badder than you to take it. So, I'm gonna cut this meeting short because I HATE this room, and I'll finish it off by saying, if you don't let these people stay..I'm leaving with them.." Mary says before standing up and storming out.
"I'm sorry but..she's kinda right.. you sit here and try to learn who someone is from just the crust of who they are. You don't know Rick or Daryl, Hell! You don't even know us that well. I get that you're trying to be a good leader but the things you're doing... they're no good. Sometimes it's best to accept change." He said as he walked out the door.
As Peter began to look around he noticed Mary was no where to be seen. He started by looking for her at home and when that failed he began to look around everywhere else. As he walked the streets he saw the red head in the guard tower. As he got closer he realized she was crying which is something he rarely sees. He quickly climbed the ladder and looked at the red head who was purposefully facing away from him. Peter place his hand on her shoulder and before he could say anything she quickly turned around and buried her face in his chest. Peter didn't say anything, instead, he softly ran his fingers through her hair, massaging her scalp in order to calm her down.
"I don't want them to go.." Mary said into his chest.
"they're stuck with us no matter what.." Peter said as he rested his chin on her head.
"you promise?" Mary said between sobs.
"yes Mary.."
