As everyone laid down for bed Shane pulled his jeep up closer to the RV so that Mary and Peter could sleep in in safely. Dale come up to the jeep and opened the door. "Did you guys finish the first book?" He asked Peter."yeah, we finished it before the herd came." Peter said as he handed the book back.
Daryl lifted his other hand that had another book. "Inferno, By: Dante Aligheri. 490 pages and its a poetry book has some scary parts but its a classic." Dale looked at Mary again examining her head. "Mary didn't you get your hair cut recently?"
"yeah? Why?" Mary asked as she rubbed her head only to feel it was getting longer.
"its grown out a lot faster then it should." He said as he patted the girls hair.
"I wonder what color it is.." Peter said with a smile.
"i think its brown." Dale said with a smile.
"i don't know.. maybe.." Peter said with a smile.
Peter grabbed the book from Dale and opened it.
"don't start it tonight or you'll never get to sleep." Dale said before closing the door and going back to his spot on top of the RV. The kids cuddled up under the blanket and within a few minutes they fell asleep.
_____________________The next morning the kids woke up to Dale knocking on the window the next morning. "you guys slept in." Peter and Mary sat up completely exhausted. They hadn't used their powers to the extent of watching people in months. Dale eye'd the kids up and down before helping them out of the car.
Dale knew something wasn't right with the way they looked. He walked the kids to the RV and gave them some food and water. He hoped in doing so they'd perk up a bit, but instead they laid back and fell asleep. Dale grew worried and grabbed t-dog and led him inside the RV.
"they don't look good. Their pale and they keep sleeping." Dale said in a worried tone.
"were they bit?" T-dog asked as he placed a hand on the kids foreheads.
"no.. i don't know what's happening. They were fine last night now when i woke them up they looked sickly."
"they're burning up.."
"so are you.. we need to get moving soon.."
T-dog stayed with the kids as dale sat on the roof as look out. As hours passed the kids got paler and their fevers grew. After another hour the group returned with some missing.
"wheres Lori?" Dale asked.
"she took of with some chick with a horse." Daryl said as he set down his cross bow.
"we have another problem.." t-dog said as he emerged from the RV.
"what's going on are they ok?" Dale asked as he ran up to the RV.
"they look horrible and i cant wake them up.."
Daryl came running into the RV to see the sickly kids passed out in the RV bench. He quickly ran out his bike and grabbed a bag full of pills, and ran back inside. He started to search through the bag until he came across Tylenol. He grabbed his water bottle and pours some one the kids heads with partially woke them up. Which gave him just enough time to force feed both of them some Tylenol and water.
"Someone needs to keep an eye on them to make sure the fever goes down." Daryl says as he watches the kids go back to sleep.
"yo..you got something in therefor me? I think my cuts infected." T-dog says as he eyes the bag.
"help yourself." Daryl throws the bag at T-dog before going out to his bike. Dale follows Daryl with a wide eye look.
"you had a bag of medicine the entire time?"
"no.. Merle had a bag of DRUGS."
"thank you for helping the kids..."
"yeah.. i don't think those two should die. We need em."
"do you trust them?" Dale asked.
"i trust that they wouldn't hurt us..." Daryl dropped his head a little bit before meeting Dales eyes. "These kids haven't had anyone that trusted them. Every adult in their life has done nothing but disappoint them..so, i think it's best I show them some trust.."
Dale smiled at the man who was staring to turn back to his bike. "You're not to bad Daryl."
"we'll see.."
__________________a few hours pass before Dale gets called back into the RV by T-dog. Dale quickly climbed down his later and started towards the door of the RV with Daryl following from his motorcycle. When they got in all they saw was Peter reading and Marylin rested her head on his shoulder while reading along with him. A smile came across his face before he grabbed two water bottles and some dinner than was made only an hour ago by carol.
"how are you two feeling?" Dale asked as he handed out the food.
"tired..." Mary mumbled as Peter set the book down.
"peter?" Daryl asked.
"i have a headache and Im a little tired but other than that I'm feeling a lot better then before."
"alright you two eat up you need to build your strength." Dale said with a smile.
Marylin and Peter began eating as Dale walked back outside on. "Guess we need to be more careful with our powers." Peter said as he took a bite of his sandwich.
"yeah..."
Peter pulled Mary into a hug knowing that they both needed it. "Remember.. we don't need people to survive..as long as we have each other we should be fine."
Mary smiled before returning to her food. "Peter..." Peter turned to Mary. "Thank you for being my friend.. it seems like i don't have many these days and now... now i feel like your the only person that i can trust."
Peter placed a hand on Marys shoulder. "If I'm being honest being your friend is the best thing that has ever happened to me.. but also.. don't forget about the people that still trust and care for both of us.. Dale, T-dog, Daryl... they just saved our lives..."
The two smiled at each other before returning to the meals.
