WARNINGS: Angst, death, post endgame (we all know what that means)

No funeral, no memorial, nothing
She wouldn't have wanted that, everyone knows that, but you needed it. Even if 'saying goodbye is death by a thousand cuts'. That's why you woke up early and drove all the way to this unknown lake, literally in the middle of nowhere. It used to be Nat's favorite place and it's where she brought you for your first date.

"Flashbacks waking me up
I get drunk, but it's not enough
'Cause the morning comes and you're not my baby
I look through the windows of this love
Even though we boarded them up
Chandelier's still flickering here
'Cause I can't pretend it's ok when it's not"

You're sitting on the hood of your truck, downing a bottle of vodka, one sip after another. And you can't stop as you watch the sunrise in front of you, and your mind travels back in time.
So deep in your thoughts that you can see her running around giggling like a little child, blowing kisses your way and mumbling words full of love. You can hear her deep voice scolding you as you lit a cigarette.
You were happy and in love and the cause of it all was Natasha, but now she's not here anymore and you aren't fine, not in the slightest. Your world is still all broken around you, but you're doing better than a few months ago.

"I dressed to kill my time
I take the long way home
I ask the traffic lights if it'll be alright
They say 'I don't know'
And what once was our is no one's now
I see you everywhere
The only thing we share
Is this small town"

They were just stupid words. Three stupid words, they could have been a lie, a simple mistake. "She's gone" what does that mean? It had to be a mistake.
But reality crashed over you as you entered your shared room that night. It was empty. The furniture, dresses and everything else was still there, but without Natasha's bubbly personality this room was simply empty. You ended up sleeping on one of the couches that night.
If the bedroom felt completely empty, your days were even worse. No more cuddling, binge watching silly series, cooking lessons ... It was all gone, so every morning you'd force yourself to get dressed and go out, everywhere was better than there. And after hours of wandering around the city you found yourself being scared to come back, delaying that moment in any possible way. That wasn't home anymore for you.

"My heart, my hips, my body, my love
Trying to find a part of me that you didn't touch
Gave up on me like it was a bad drug [...]

Our song, our films, united we stand
Our country, guess it was a lawless land
Quiet my fears with the touch of your hand
Paper cut stings from our paper thin plans

My time, my wine, my spirit, my trust
Trying to find a part of me that you didn't take up
Gave you too much but it wasn't enough
But I'll be alright, it's just a thousand cuts"

When the sadness wore off anger took over.
You were perfect together, the sickening happy couple that everyone envy. You were her rock and she was yours, you were there for eachother in the darkest times. And she left. 'Probably it wasn't enough' that was one of your first thoughts, then it hit you. What you had was more than enough, you were more than enough; you gave her your whole body, soul and even more. Going away was her choice. She's the one who abandoned your perfectly planned life and that doesn't necessarily mean she loved you any less.
She jumped off that cliff wishing to give everyone a better future, a happy one.
Little did she know that she damned one of them to die from a thousand cuts.
