Dream was the most recognizable hero, with his iconic smile mask and neon green. Tommy always thought the choice of a color that stood out was a statement of no fear. In a world of hybrids, and powers, Dream was an inspiration to everyone, that anyone could be a hero. The number one hero was completely human with no powers. Since his rise to the top so many others have gathered the courage to try and follow in his footsteps. All however, have failed, Tommy knows there could never be another Dream.

They had been chasing the Mercenary across the rooftops, Dream right on his tail and Tommy not far behind. While Tommy took that extra second to calculate his jump across the rooftop, the hard pouring rain stopping him from just sending it should he slip, Dream leaped fearlessly like he too had no fall damage like The Mercenary did.

The Mercenary had always been a wild card, constantly switching sides based on who's pocket had a finer lining. Tommy though they should just arrest the guy but the Order still used him from time to time.

Last week The Mercenary had been responsible for The Blade's prison break out specifically moments before his execution.

Once the man saw how quickly Dream was catching up on him he jumped off the edge of the building. Tommy gasped when Dream leaped after him. Racing to the edge of the roof Tommy saw Dream and The Mercenary battling it out at the bottom of the four story building.

'Oh come on.' Tommy looked around and spotted the fire escape ladder. Currying down it as fast as he could, which was not very fast at all, the rain made the rungs slippery. He kept pausing to watch the fight and noticed Dream's gravity was weird. Tommy realized he must have used a feather light potion to survive the fall.

The Mercenary whirled his trident over his head and clashed with Dreams' sword. 'I have no business with you, Dream.'

'Well that's a lie.' Dream replied as they circled each other. 'We all know your all business and word on the street is you have taken up business with The Blade.'

Tommy threw a few energy blasts at the Mercenary, who easily dodged them, and then continued to climb down.

'What is it to you?' He grunted.

'I need The Blade.' Dream said low.

The dark of night got even darker for a moment, as a great winged shadow passed over them. Tommy looked up and saw the Angel of death perch on the roof. TOmmyb cursed when went back up the ladder.

The Mercenary saw him too. 'Sorry Dream, my ride's here.' Then he threw what could only be described as a ball of fire at Dream. It at first was the size of a fist but in no time at all it grew to be the size of a person. Dream ran to the side but the fall of fire followed him gradually closing in. Dream attempted to wall jump and the rain made it impossible.

'Dream!' Tommy shouted and jumped all the way down in front of his mentor and created his own ball of energy to meet the fire. There was an explosion and the two were thrown backwards while The Mercenary was swept up by the Angel of Death and got away.

Tommy hissed in pain, cradling his hands close to his chest.

Dream rolled to his feet and started tapping away at his wrist communicator. '404, Pyre, and Nightmare the Mercenary and The Angel of Death are headed East cords are-'

Dream paused when he heard Tommy's poorly concealed whimper.Tommy tried his best to be quiet, to get up and not be a burden but the hands hurt so bad.

'Dream? Red Shadow? Do you re-'

'404 I am going to have to get back to you, my partner is down.' Dream knelt beside him. 'Are you alright Tommy?'

Tommy nodded with a grimace. Dream didn't believe him. 'Let me see your hands.'
