Tommy might not know what Dream was, But Wilbur knew.
Dream was a liar.
Yes La'manburg, your precious number one hero lied to you, and had been lying to your face for years. Dream has powers, Wilbur knew this first hand, and his power sucked.
Wilbur knew Dream, even all the way back in middle school, because Dream was Technoblades former best friend. Technoblade would never shut up about him. Always whining about how Dream beat him in the fencing match, beat him in the flip off the hand in tumbling class. The two of them would purposefully join the same same clubs so they could compete. But still Techno would always have that gleam in his eyes when he told stories of teh stupid things the two fought over.
Wilbur never had anyone like that. Sure he could put more effort into making friends if everyone wasn't so freakn annoying. Plus there were more important things at home to take care of. Mother had been getting worse and Tommy was getting severely bullied at the time. Second graders are brutal man.
But even so Wilbur grew lonely by himself and wasn't in the mood to watch Transformer Rescue Bots again with Tommy so he begged Techno to let him tag along.
And Phil made him do it.
"I told you if you were going to be a baby I would send you home." Techno reminded him.
"Yes but when you said we were going rock climbing I thought you were talking about the one at the gym." Wilbur said, clutching the face of the cliff for dear life. His arms were shaking and sweat trickled down his brow. Dream and Techno barely looked winded.
"How lame is that!" Dream said, rolling up the sleeves of his hoodie from the little ledge he was perched on.
Wilbur looked down at them and immediately regretted it and gripped tighter to the wall. "It-it's a little high is all."
"Awww, is Wilbur a scaredy baby?" Dream taunted with all the grace of a middle schooler.
"I knew we should have left you at home." Techno sighed.
"I am not scared!" Wilbur protested, "I'm not! I'm not!" He said louder over the crashing waves below and Dreams laughing.
"It's okay baby Wilby." Dream cooked.
"Shut up!" Wilbur shouted.
Techno rolled his eyes and pulled ahead of the two, climbing higher. "Come on you two, we are almost at the top of the cliff."
Dream lowered his voice so only Wilbur could hear. "You know if you really aren't a baby you would jump."
Wilbur's eye popped out of his head. "Into the ocean!" he squeeked.
"Sure, Cliff divers do it here all the time." Dream shrugged like it was no big deal. "From the very top of the cliff even. You could definitely do it from here."
Jumping from an effing cliff was the very last thing Wilbur wanted to do right now. But if there was one trait that Wilbur shared with his twin was the fact they were both prideful. So Wilbur didn't jump; he let go.
What Wilbur and even Dream didn't realize at the time cliff diving was harder than it looked.
The cliff they were climbing was perfect. The bottom was deep with minimal waves, and the cliff curved inwards so you couldn't hit the side by accident. Where they went wrong in their calculations was the fact that the cliff was really, really high. Your body gets used to the attitude you are at, you can't just change the pressure in your body that fast.
On the way down Wilbur fainted.
If it really was from the altitude or just plain fear they would never know. It didn't really matter because that was the day Wilbur Soot Watson would never feel the sun on his face again.
