[ movie - yours, mine & ours ]
[ chapter three ]
I SNAPPED MY EYES WIDE OPEN when I heard the Devil play it's chord, or at least that's what I thought the noise was. I couldn't help but roll over, muffling my face into my pillow to drown out the noise of Joni playing on her saxophone. I could hear my siblings and step-siblings all scream once the noise hit them along with our pets barking and grunting, tempting to hide from Joni.
"Make her stop!" I could hear Dylan yell out from his shared bedroom with William across the hall from us
"That noise!" Mick shouted from his room and I groaned even further into my pillow, hoping to go back to sleep
"Hey, reveille! Reveille! It's 6:05! Time to get up!" Frank yelled from outside our room, and I lifted my head with another groan
"Let's go, let's go, let's go! Move it, move it, move it!" Frank exclaimed loudly as I eyed Phoebe warily as she went to open our bedroom door
"Oh, my God. Who's killing a goat?" I heard Harry ask with a groan as I started to follow Phoebe with Christina following me
"All right. These are your schedules with latrine times. You get seven minutes each. Do not waste it." Frank warned us all as he held a clipboard that had multi color-coded paperwork
"Why do I suddenly feel like I'm in prison?" Phoebe asked Frank in a flat tone as she grabbed the piece of paper
"Fashion police caught up with you?" Christina snarked at her as I grabbed the piece of paper before I looked around at my surroundings, blinking repeatedly
"Snap! Up top, girlfriend!" Lau told Christina and I walked over to him, wrapping my arm around his shoulder to guide him away
"Now is not the time to be sassy, Lau. It's still early." I informed my little brother as we both started to walk towards the stairs
"Why the drill, Admiral?" I heard William ask his Dad and I shook my head in disbelief, why couldn't they just call Frank 'Dad'
"It's not a drill, William. We have doubled our force. That calls for increased coordination." I heard Frank say and I went to sit on a step, leaning against the railing as Lau continued to walk without me
"Don't worry, you'll soon be doing this in your sleep." I heard Frank say and I heard footsteps walk past me and I didn't even bother to stand up, instead I closed my eyes
"I am asleep." I heard Dylan mutter in response to him and I huffed, wondering if I could sneak past Frank to head to my bedroom
"Are you okay, Erin?" I heard the familiar-tired voice of my brother ask me in concern causing me to open my eyes wearily
"I'm still sleepy." I mumbled quietly and he offered me his hand which I took gratefully, standing back up
"Thanks, Dylan." I thanked my brother and he nodded his head, the both of letting a yawn escape our lips
**The North's Drumstick**
"Can someone pass the hash browns? Thanks." Harry thanked me as I passed him the plate but not before stealing one
"Give me that cereal." I heard Bina say to Marisa causing me to shake my head in amusement before looking down at my breakfast
"Kelly, can you please give me a pancake?" Michael asked Kelly who now had the pancakes in front of her
"I don't want any." I heard Joni object from the end of the table but I didn't bother to see what was happening
"Bacon, please." I requested to Michael just as Fiona oinked from her seat between Mick and Christina
