002. | SWEET REVERIES — AFTER HOURS, LANDO NORRIS
In the many years that Emery had set foot on this earth, her life had taken many, many unexpected turns. But nothing today could've prepared her for the surprise that awaited her on her phone. A message, from her once-friend Lando Norris, reaching out to her after a five-year silence.
The entirety of this situation left Emery completely dumbfounded. She had always thought that the chances of her finding inner peace, or even becoming the new Queen of England were more likely to occur before her childhood friend would finally be reaching out to her again, but she had been proven wrong.
Once upon a time, Emery and Lando had been inseparable during their high school days. And with inseparable I mean, those two were actually never gone from each other. Emery was always there for him, cheering him on from the sidelines and offering support when things didn't go his way on the racetrack. And he would do so when she was in the show ring, competing.
However, their paths diverged when Lando decided to leave college and pursue his racing career, and they like the cards were stacked against them both, they drifted apart. The day after he said goodbye, or well didn't say goodbye, all Emery did was lay in bed and cry. But after one month she started to move on, and after two she felt alright.
Emery couldn't seem to drown him out long enough. But for him? It was the total opposite. Behind her question marks, he added the period that ended their ever-lasting friendship. So much for the salvation of their grace.
She would be lying if she said she wasn't aware that Lando had gotten quite far in his career, as he had finally accomplished to get a seat at McLaren, from the 2019 season on.
Along with Lando's enormous success at his team and finally making a name for himself, he let his past and with that Emery fall away from him like dust in a poorly lit-room. For all those years, while he had long-forgotten about her, she loyally watched the races every race weekend and cheered it on for him.
Yes Lando leaving her behind to bleed had done her terribly, b even when she tried to hide it a smile creeps out of her teeth whenever she heard his name announced.
