018. | OH, YOU LOVE IT
— AFTER HOURS, LANDO NORRIS

4000+ word chapter, buckle up y'all 🤭

The rays of sunshine scattered through the city of Monte-Carlo, casting warm and bright light across the small country of glamour and wealth. It was nearing the end of May, and the Grand Prix of Monaco was finally happening.

Known as the ultimate test of skill and patience for the drivers, the race featured tight turns and high-speed straights through Monte Carlo's narrow streets.

However, amidst the radiant sunshine, Emery radiated nothing but darkness. She had woken up with a pounding headache, a consequence of the previous night's drinking on repeat. Lando had insisted on taking her for a track walk, but she wasn't particularly happy with that idea.

Her head was already aching, she did not need her legs to give up on her as well.

"All this walking makes me want to kill myself," The moody girl complained, pushing the brim of her (or well, Lando's) sunglasses further up her nose to block out . The bright, sunny light outside was physically hurting her eyes.

"OMG! It can talk!" Lando jokes to her, quickly learning his mistake when he earned a small nudge in return from her.

Unlike Lando, Emery was completely hangover. The night before, they had attended one of Monaco's famous parties both for PR and to obviously have a good time.

While Lando had been responsible and stuck to non-alcoholic drinks due to him having to race this weekend, Emery did the complete opposite and had enjoyed her fair share of drinks. Lando and the other drivers had managed to secure access to the VIP booths due to their status, and when free alcohol was on offer, Emery couldn't resist.

Lando couldn't help but laugh at his best friend's misery. "Don't be such a baby, Ems. I drank last night too, yet you don't see me complaining!" He joked, a bit too loudly for Emery's liking.

"Yeah, well you only drank alcohol-free drinks all night long!" She retorted, playfully hitting his arm carefully not to hit him hard to hurt him, but also not too soft to make her message clear.
