006. | SUNSHINE, & MIDNIGHT RAIN — AFTER HOURS, LANDO NORRIS
Lando and Emery found themselves stranded in the middle of the airport, their flight had struck an unwelcome delay that stretched over two long hours. As the clock struck three in the morning, Emery couldn't help but wish she could have stayed comfortably in her bed, sheltered from the exhausting task of navigating the complex airport halls. It was a desolate hour, with the quiet of the night covering everything, and tired travelers wandering like lost souls in the chilly.
Lando, on the other hand, appeared unperturbed by the early awakening, seemingly accustomed to rising with the sun. His vibrant energy and positive disposition radiated like a ray of sunlight amidst the gloomy airport ambiance. While Lando resembled a beacon of warmth and cheerfulness, Emery felt akin to the drizzling rain that falls silently at midnight, carrying with it a sense of melancholy and longing. He was sunshine, and she was midnight rain.
Lando, wearing a friendly smile on his face, turned to Emery and spoke in a polite yet hurried tone, "Ems, I'm going to make a quick trip to the restroom. Could you keep an eye on our belongings for me?" Without waiting for Emery's response, Lando swiftly handed over his phone, passport, and various other items he was carrying to her before heading off in search of the nearest restroom facilities.
As he left, Emery found herself standing alone amidst the bustling crowd in the hallway of Bahrain International Airport. She was left with the responsibility of guarding their two suitcases and two backpacks, which contained their essential belongings.
Emery and Lando had recently arrived together in Bahrain, eagerly anticipating the upcoming race weekend that marked the beginning of the 2022 season. It had been approximately a month since the memorable team dinner that Lando had treated Emery to. During that time, he had embarked on a trip to Barcelona for testing purposes, while Emery had opted to remain at home since accompanying him was not deemed necessary.
Emery stayed in touch with Isa and Heidi through text, having exchanged numbers at the dinner. She also hung out with Quinn and even Lando once he returned. But her main priority was preparing for the upcoming season. Emery was glad to have made such good friends and knew she wouldn't be alone during the races when Lando or Quinn couldn't be with her.
