Summer's POV

It has been weeks since we've last talked to each other. Since the incident at the lingerie shop, my body has been producing insanity hormones for me. The thought of Dan irked me, and the absence of Kane left me confused. These mixed signals and feelings my body was sending to my brain left me in a bedlam of my own thoughts.

That was, until Kane came up to me yesterday and proposed something unexpected. I wasn't expecting much from him, since we have grown distant for the past few days but his abrupt proposal snapped me out of my misery.

"Whatever you do, do not get involve in something you'll regret," were the last words I heard from Rita. "Though I can't deny the fact that you two are head over heels for each other, but whatever you do, stay clear of danger, got it?" She warned.

"Funny, I thought you liked him," I scowled. What ever in heavens made her think that Kane would 'accidentally' hurt me during dinner?

"Oh, believe it or not, I do," She sighed. "But my break up with Mr. You-Know-Who was terrible. And I'm just giving you some advice." She smiled genuinely and patted my head. "Now go before I unintentionally murder you and take your place instead."

Right, so that's the reason why Kane and I were so distant all of a sudden. I had to help Rita get over with her former boyfriend. She never liked it when I mentioned his name. Turned out, Philip was exactly the opposite of a douche. The truth, however, I can't tell Rita. Philip had came to me and sought for advice. He was depressed, and when he needed Rita most, she wasn't there. I couldn't blame him for feeling lonely. He had actually sought for my help before breaking it off with Rita. He didn't want her to know he was having severe depression. And Rita, the goddamn fool she is, accused him of cheating on her. He just shrugged and said yes, he was. Philip would rather have her hating on him than feeling sympathetic for him.

Rita, what have you done? Being a third wheel in a relationship wasn't as fun as I thought it would have been, I muttered in my mind as I ambled down the road to Kane's house. Within a few minutes, the sight of his house came into view. It was huge and homely. Without stepping inside, I could already feel the sense of comfort which was emitted by the house. Just as I was walking towards the front door, a girl brushed past me. Her long hair cascaded down her shoulders and her smoldering green eyes cast me an apology. From the way she had walked with a brisk manner, I knew she was busy heading of to somewhere, so I wasn't going to cease her for her disrespectful manner since she had indirectly apologized to me.

"Summer, you're here early!" Kane shouted at the top of his lungs as he 'greeted' me. He was standing at the door and waiting for me after all.

"Surprise!" I waved my hands in the air cheerfully. He looked at me dubiously, then his grim lips transformed into a grin.

"Dinner's about to start," he said quickly and went inside the house, pulling me along with him. Either someone was ecstatic of just couldn't wait for me to catch my breath.'

"Something smells heavenly," I blurted out. The smell of food wafted in my nose as soon as Kane came back, holding a plate on each of his hand. "Did you make these?"

He nodded expectantly, blushing as he did so. He was an exceptional cook! The food melted in my mouth and each bite triggered my taste buds in a delightful manner. "This is extraordinary."

"Thanks." He mumbled and joined me for dinner.

Whilst eating, we had a lovely chat. Apparently, his parents were not at home as they worked from day to night. That would've explained the massive house I was in.

"So, how's Rita?" He asked, genuinely curious of her well-being.

"She's fine. A week of not being with you finally paid off. She had been following me around like a lost puppy since the break up."
