Chapter 11: Love?

Kane's POV

“Dan. What is Dan doing here?”

I let go of Summer and spun around to see Dan, standing not far away from us. He stared furiously at both of us, more to me. 

"Summer, wait for me here okay?" I asked and she nodded.

Then, I walked towards Dan who stood there with his fists now tightened into a ball, ready to punch someone.

The someone who I presumed is me. 

"What privilege do you have to hug my Summer?" he asked angrily when I was close and grabbed my collar into his fists.

I looked around to make sure Summer wasn't looking at this and she wasn't which was a relieve. I sighed and took his fists off me as I glared at him.

"She is not a property and not yours either. I can do whatever I want with her. She is my friend." 

"But she doesn't know the truth." he smirked.

"Well, even if she knows, I would be gone anyway with whatever Father wants me to do to stop torturing my sister." 

"I was just joking. She wouldn't know the truth. Jealousy just overload my mind, she is better with you than me." he pat my shoulder while I was shocked from his friendliness. "And I don't want my best friend to be hurt from my own father again."

Dan was so cold to me until now, what is planning?

"What are you planning, Dan?" I rose one of my eyebrows in confusion. "And what do you mean with I am more suitable with Summer than you are?"

"Something to do with stopping my own father from getting himself into a whole lot of trouble." he said with a grin.

"And Summer, she hates me now and I want her to. I don't want her to find out about my horrible father's work. She was nearly killed last time because of what she heard. She shouldn't had come by that day." he continued with a frown.

"I am sorry for hurting her." 

"It's not your fault. It's my father's. He threatened to kill your sister. To you family is more important than just a random girl right?" 

"But she is not a random girl to you."

"Ya, she wasn't. But the only one who can stop my father now is me and the only one he trusts is me." 

"Why are you so nice now? And you didn't save me last time when I was beaten." I asked with anger.

"My father installed a recorder in my car and around my house to watch me and then I was filled with jealousy last time in school so I threatened you. I am sorry." he rubbed his neck and continued. "I couldn't save you because I wanted you, out of here, away from my Father. If you lose his trust, I thought he will let you off. But I didn't know he would send you to kill Summer and to hurt your sister. I also started to help him with illegal stuff so you wouldn't take it. Sorry Kane for you to meet me." He said with his eyes filled with sadness; pure sadness.

Maybe I can trust him again.

"I am sorry too for accusing you and I didn't regret meeting you, Dan. Also, whatever you're planning to stop your father that wouldn't hurt Layla or Summer, I am in."

Summer's POV

"Why are you still standing there, Summer?" Rita asked curiously and I saw her with her lingerie bags. 

"Oh, I am waiting for Kane." 

"Outside of a lingerie store? What is it for?" she wiggled her eyebrows and I blushed.
