Does He Know That?

"Grace. Grace. Grace!" Frank called out to me breaking me out of my trance. We were in Frank's brownstone making a pesto recipe he had been craving for a while now with chicken.

"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. I zoned out." I said bringing my attention to him.

"It's fine, the pasta is just ready to be drained. You okay? You've been really out of it these past few days."

I walked over taking out a cup of the pasta water out before draining out the rest, "Yeah sorry. It's just work. End of the month is always so chaotic."

"It's fine, I get it, just didn't want it to boil over." He smiled at me kissing my shoulder softly.

"Does he know that?"

Harry's voice echoed in my mind, as if he wasn't already haunting my thoughts enough. I could not stop thinking about him since the last time I saw him, and it didn't help he had left for LA two days ago and wouldn't be back for another two.

"Frank, can I ask you something?" I said, shaking the strainer a bit, making sure the water was all gone.

"Anything." He smiled, finishing up the sauce.

"I just, you remember what I said right. When, we first started hanging out?"

"Mmm, Frank fuck me....please?" He smirked raising an eyebrow at me and I couldn't even be mad at him.

I rolled my eyes laughing, "Not that, I just mean, about me and....dating. Relationships."

I bit my lip avoiding his gaze, trying a piece of pasta making sure it was just fine.

"Don't worry Grace. I don't expect anything if you don't want anything. I enjoy your company, and right now I'm fine with just that." He said walking over and taking the pasta from me, "But you'll forgive me if I act a certain way with you, because I'm not going to sit here and deny that I hope you'll change your mind."

He smiled softly, leaning over and kissing me gently before pulling away and adding the pasta to the sauce turning off the heat.

"Noted." I said softly, "Imma set the table."

We sat down and ate our food. I was cracking up at Frank's Kourtney Kardashian impression I could barely eat my food.

"And it was just, so rude, to think that someone...could just...be so rude. Like that pasta was my happiness, and they thought it was nice...to like call it disgusting."

I held my stomach, covering my mouth as I coughed lightly from laughing, "Frank stop."

"Okay, okay. I just had to remind you, I'm just as up to date on pop culture as you."

"You're right, I might just have you take over my job for a week. I need a break." I smiled, finally taking a bite of the chicken, "Oh my gosh the rosemary taste so good on this."

"Rosemary makes everything better."

"I will definitely second that." I smiled.

My phone began ringing from the couch and I turned to look at Frank, "Do you mind? It might be work."

"No, go for it." He said waving me off, and I got up quickly grabbing my phone. I looked at the screen, Harry's name flashing at me. I bit my lip looking up at Frank then back at my phone.

"I'm going to just take this in your room really quick." He nodded taking another bite of his food, "Hello." I said into my phone as I made my way into his bedroom.

"Hello, Miss Grace. I'm glad I caught you."

I sat on the bed, "I'm actually busy, but I figured I could lend you a minute or two of my time. How's LA?"

"Busy huh? What are you doing?" He said, curiosity in his voice.

"I asked about LA first."

"Ahhh, you're with the other man. Got it. LA has been good. Just a lot of meetings for the overseas tour and I had an audition or two."

"That's great Harry. I'm actually really excited to see that movie you have coming out, umm, God I'm horrible with names, oh, My Policeman. It looks really good."

"We have a premier in New York next month. You could come with me if you want."

"Really?" I said, smiling big.

"Mhm, it would be fun. I think you would enjoy yourself, and I would get to show you off. You know. My friend." He chuckled and I couldn't help but laugh.

"Speaking of friends, I should probably go."

"Right. Have a good night Grace."

"You too Harry. Oh. Wait." I pinched my lip between my fingers. Still unsure if this was the right idea, "Ummm, so, my birthday is next week on Friday. A bunch of us are going to Frank's bar for the night. And I know it might be weird, but I mean I'm su—Gracie. Stop talking will you. I'll be there. Just send me the information." I laughed and bit my lip.

"Okay. Bye now Harry." I smiled hanging up and heading back out.

I sat at the table, placing my phone face down near me and smiled at Frank, "Sorry about that."

"It's okay, everything alright at work?" He served me more wine.

"Yeah, just needed to make sure I had the right posts ready for next week. Since I'm leaving early on Friday."

He smiled, "You excited for your birthday?"

"Kinda. I'm excited to see who Lydia invited. Kinda nervous to see them. But it should be fun."

"I was wondering, besides Friday. If I could take you out on Thursday for dinner?"

At the same time he said this my phone went off and I flipped it over, a text from Harry.

H: Thursday. I made reservations. 8pm. Don't worry, it's not a date. No excuses.

"Umm, sorry, when did you say?" I said turning my phone around.

"Thursday?" He smiled, hopeful.

"Can we do Wednesday?" I smiled softly and he looked a bit disappointed, but quickly smiled.

"Sure. That works."

"I look forward to it." I smiled, feeling slightly bad, at how excited I was, but not about dinner with Frank, about dinner with Harry.
