Harry spent the next few days texting me random bagel spots he would try, comparing them to the shop we went to together. I couldn't help but laugh at his reviews.
H: They laughed when I called the cream cheese schmear.
H: Did they think because it was a rainbow bagel I would just ignore how hard it was. Almost broke my damn tooth.
H: They don't sell everything bagels, but they have onion bagels. Sesame bagels. AND POPPY. BAGELS. I was like mate mix the seasonings together. Probably pre-bought not authentic.
The one he sent today, included a bagel with the thinnest layer of spread on it.
H: where the fuck is the cream cheese on this?
I laughed at my phone and Lydia gave me the weirdest stare. I glanced up at her, shrugging my shoulders, "What?"
"Nothing, you're just always laughing or smiling at your phone lately."
"I always laugh and smile at my phone, it's my job, you know research." I said placing my phone down and taking a bite of my avocado toast. We were out to brunch and I realized I hadn't touched much of my food.
"Right." She said rolling her eyes, "Anyways, I'm going out to dinner tonight with Eddie, and he said Frank won't stop talking about you, even after you snuck out of his place. We were thinking maybe we could make it a double date."
"Lydia. I don't do that. You know that." I swallowed.
"Come on Gracie, for me? I really like Eddie. And anyways if something does happen, Frank's going to be around. We can't have that being weird."
"And what am I supposed to say? Thanks for the semi great sex, sorry I snuck out, but let me split the bill with you?" I said tilting my head to the side.
"I mean, we would work on that. But please Grace." She pleaded, big eyes and pouty lips working their magic.
I took a deep breath, "Fine."
—
We stood at the restaurant entrance waiting for the boys to get here. I was wearing black leather pants and a white silk cami tucked in. Lydia was in a beautiful black slip dress with heels that for once made her taller than me.
Lydia fixed her lipstick in her phone camera and I couldn't help but smile. I hadn't seen my best friend this nervous or excited in a while.
"Liddy, you look beautiful. He'd be crazy not to think so." I smiled big at her and she flushed.
"Thanks Gracie. And thank you for coming. I swear nothing has to come from it, I think we both just needed some support. You know, us non-daters." We both laughed and I nodded.
"Yeah, yeah, it's fine. At least you guys chose a good place." I winked at her.
A few minutes later we saw them walking up to us. I tried my best not to gawk at how handsome Frank looked, but it was damn near impossible. He wore a white dress shirt without the top button done, and beige slacks. The light colors against his tan skin made him look like a god. I quickly averted my gaze back to Lydia who seemed to be doing the same in regards to Eddie.
"Hello ladies." Eddie smiled at both of us, hugging myself first then Lydia, "You look amazing Lydia."
I watched as my friend blushed and I chuckled turning my attention to Frank, "Hey you." I smiled small.
"Oh, so I didn't dream you?" He smirked and I blushed slightly looking down.
"I'm sorry about that I just don't usually—do the whole stay and cuddle, cook breakfast together in the morning thing." He smiled and I laughed.
"Yeah that."
"That's fine, as long as you don't disappear mid dinner."
"I won't. I promise." I smiled.
"Grace, look over there." Lydia tugged on my arm, I turned to where she was sending my attention. Harry and a mystery woman were walking towards us and I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at her.
"How the hell does this keep happening? I swear he's everywhere I am." We both looked at each other and she shrugged.
"You won't want to hear my answer."
"You know what, you're right. So let's head inside." I turned and grabbed Frank's arm, leading him through the double glass doors.
—
Once we were seated, Frank turned to me, "So your friend just follows you everywhere?"
"Huh?" I said raising an eyebrow and he pointed to the table next to us with his head. I turned my gaze slightly over and accidentally locked eyes with Harry who looked just as shocked as I did earlier. I quickly looked back at Frank and closed my eyes shaking my head.
"No, we apparently just roam in the same areas consistently." I smiled small.
"Right. Well, I can show you new places. Guaranteed you won't see him there." He smirked and I couldn't help the giggle that escaped me.
"Maybe." I smiled turning to the menu.
The rest of dinner went on quiet well. I barely noticed Harry, and to my own surprise I was really enjoying Frank's attention. He made me laugh without trying, knew more than any man I knew about Jane Austen, and didn't interrupt any of my rants until I was completely done talking.
I had excused myself to the bathroom and was reapplying my lipstick, looking myself over in the mirror before heading back. I walked out of the bathroom and quickly stopped almost knocking myself over when I saw Harry leaning against the wall.
"I'm starting to think your phone number came with a tracking device." I smirked, stepping away from the doorway and leaning back on the wall across from him.
"I thought you didn't do second dates." He smirked back.
"I don't. Just two friends helping two other friends out." I swallowed.
"Interesting. You look lovely tonight." He quickly glanced over me.
I felt myself flush without control and I looked away, "Don't you have a date to get back to?"
"Hmm, I do." He pushed himself off the wall, and winked at me, "Enjoy your night Grace."
I rolled my eyes and waited a few minutes before heading back, not wanting Frank to be suspicious. I sat back down and he turned to me, whispering, "So, I believe Eddie is about to ask Lydia back to our place. So, I was wondering if I could walk you back to yours, and maybe, you'll invite me in?" His hot breath on my neck caused chills to develop on my skin, and I bit my lip. To make matters worse, I could feel Harry's gaze burning into me and I felt beyond flustered.
"Sure, and maybe, I'll invite you in." I smiled softly and he chuckled.
—
I did invite him in and we did have sex again. The whole time, I couldn't stop myself from thinking about Harry Styles. No matter how hard I tried to shake the thought from my mind.
