CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR

Hajiya blood pressure spiked up after the wedding. She was rushed to the hospital after she started experiencing dizzy spell.
She was discharged days later. But Dr Auwal Abba’s friend still warned that her blood pressure was still high.
Ummi have been more worried about her mothers health than she have ever been.
Hajiya was very adamant even after she have explained to her that Laura is not who she thinks she is.
Baffa Dahir had to come from Kano and persuaded her into going with him back home.

Meanwhile Abdulrahim and Laura came back home a month later from their honeymoon.
They both agreed that Laura will resign from her work as his personal assistant.
Rather she became a freelance editor online.
She also decided to acquire a degree on Computer engineering by taken online courses.

Laura kept worrying about only Inna staying in the boys quarters so she go visit her almost every weekend.
Baba too tried talking her into moving into his house but she rejected it.
After much persuasion and pleading from everybody she finally moved in with Yaya babangida and Anty sa’a in the main building.

Its been months Abdulrahim and Laura got married. It has been total bliss and but they still have fight from time to time like every couple.
Just like today they had a fight before Abdulrahim left for work and he did not have breakfast before leaving because of that.
Laura made lunch and sent the driver to take to his office. Even though she was still angry with him she knew he had not eating anything all day.
Abdulrahim was working on some file in his office but his stomach was growling.
He regretted not eating breakfast. He should have put his pride aside and apologized to his wife, he thought.
His new secretary came into the office after he knocked.
“What is it Andrew” he asked without looking up from what he was doing.
“Sir the driver brought this he said its from madam” Andrew said while keeping the basket on the table.
Abdulrahim was surprised when he saw Laura sent lunch for him.
He dismissed Andrew and hurriedly went to the table to check the content of the basket.
Laura made one of his favorite Danbun shinkafa. She put a small note in the basket were she knew he will see it.

“As much as I am angry with you right now you still need to eat. Eat my dear husband and when you come back home we shall continue fighting from where we stopped.

“Leave it to my wife to be sweet and sassy at the same time” he laughed after re-reading her note again.
Yusuf came into the office and saw his friend laughing. he sat beside him and looked into the note Abdulrahim was holding.
“You know she really got you. Only laura will be angry and caring at the same time” Yusuf said while trying to stop laughing.
“What are you doing in my office Yusuf” Abdul asked irritated while putting the note away into his pocket.
“I was in your area and came to invite you to lunch but I guess our lunch already came” he said while serving himself a plate.
“You know the way you are eating outside someone will think Rafia does not give you food at home”
“Why will I turn down good meal if I see the opportunity besides when It is free. It’s not like I don’t eat when she cooks at home”
“Why am I trying to talk to you I have forgotten you have a drum for a stomach. You can eat and still not get full”
“Hey man you are hurting my feeling” Yusuf tried to fake been angry.
“Whatever” Abdul shrugged.

Laura intentionally wore a long Black body coon that hugged her curves in the right place, it has a slit at the front that ends at her thigh.
She knew he love it when she where anything black. So she is wearing it to tease him.
When he came back she was still cooking. It was almost time for magrihb prayer.
“hey welcome back. Dinner will be served before you come back from the mosque” She told him after she saw him standing by the kitchen door.
In her peripheral vision she saw him still standing by the door so she started swaying her hips intentionally.
He sucked in breath. He knew what she was doing and she really got him because he couldn’t stop looking at her.
And when she turned around he knew he was done for,
after seeing the deep cut the dress has which showed much of her cleavage and the slit that stop at the top of her thigh.
He quickly left after telling her he is going to take a shower before going to the mosque.
Laura laughed because she knew her plan worked with the way he almost hit his head on the door when he turned.

He came back from the mosque after Isha prayer. There is an Islamic lectures that holds after magrihb before Isha at the mosque.
So he usually waits behind for it.
When he came back he met her waiting for him in on the dining table.
As usual he served food into both of their plate.
Spagehtti and tomato sauce with meat balls.
Half way into the food Laura kept adding grinded chilli pepper into her food. He was worried at the amount of pepper she was consuming but did not say anything.
He could not help but notice how her face was red from the pepper she was taking. He stood up and got a glass of yoghurt for her.
“Thanks” she mumbled and drank it
They both cleared the table together and washed the dishes they used together.
She was about to take the stairs after they left to the kitchen when he held her hand and dragged her back.
She kept trying to protest but he dragged her to the living and sat her on his legs.
“Babe I am sorry for shouting at you this morning” he apologized.
“Abdul you know its not about you shouting at me only” she sighed
“I know I should have not over reacted its just that…………” she cut if off because he could finish.
“I am sorry too I should have asked you too before going ahead to pay for the money its just that I have been wanting to do something for Inna with my own money and if I told you. You will have wanted to pay for it” she rambled.
“Babe I just don’t want you to be using your money. You just have to say anything you want and I will do it for you. As for the money you make save it. That’s what I want” he tried to explain.
“I am sorry Insha Allah next time I will consult you before doing anything” she apologized.
He kissed her forehead while she try to snuggle more into his body.
“Since you have paid for Inna’s pilgrimage I want to pay for Yaya babangida and Anty sa’a too. so they can go together”
Hearing that made Laura so happy that she dragged him to their bedroom and thanked him in her own way.

When Inna, Ya babangida and Anty sa’a heard they were going for pilgrimage they were so happy.
Inna cried tears of joy when she knew Laura paid for her own pilgrimage.
Who would have thought that her young timid granddaughter that she helped escape a forced marriage years ago by running away will be someone who will help her fulfill one of her life long goal.
Of going to Saudi Arabia and performing hajj.

Laura tried talking to Yaya babangida to let the children come be with her until they come back but he disagreed and told her his sister is coming over to be with them until they are back.
Moreover they are still newly married couples so they need their privacy.
A week before they left Laura came to visit them in the morning.
After Abdulrahim closed from work Abdulrahim came over and Yusuf tagged along too claiming he wants to see Inna before she travels.
Inna served them fura da nono {a Fulani major drink made with cow milk and millet} Baba brought for her from his trip to Gombe
Yaya babngida is not yet back from work.

Ameera fried some sweet potato and offered everyone but they declined. Except for Laura
“Thanks Ameera I have been craving for this for almost a week now but can you add chili pepper for me in it”. She thanked her.
Ameera went back into the kitchen and came back with a bowl containing the grinded chili pepper in it.
Laura took it from her and added it to the potato chips
She then took the cup of Fura Abdulrahim was drinking and dipped the potato chip in it before chewing it.
She moaned at the taste.
Everybody in the living room all gave her weird look. Including little Basma. Anty sa’a third and last child.
“Anty Laura that is very gross” Basma scrunched up her nose.
“Yes Laura it is very gross” Yusuf agreed.
“You people should leave me alone and you don’t know how delicious this is. Or do you want to try” She asked them.
Everybody quickly shook their head.
Abdulrahim smiled at his wife’s antics. He knew she did that to shut everybody up.
