My legs wouldn't stop jiggling. Maybe I should have insisted I pick him up at his place. It was only a few more stops on the train... I glanced around. Still no sign of him. What if he got lost? I flicked my phone on. He was three minutes late. Should I call him? Maybe he decided this wasn't a good idea after all. I was about to put the phone away when it rang. I dropped it.
Scurrying quickly I snatched it back up. Mafuyu's smiling face beamed out at me from the screen. I hit the answer button.
"Mafuyu where are you?" I cried.
"I'm in front of the station. Where are you?" I told him. "I don't see you." He yelled. I glanced around.
"What do you see?" I demanded. He told me. Damn it he was at the wrong entrance. "Stay there, I'm coming." I called. "Don't hang up." I cried as I made my way through the station. I came out the side where he should be.
"Where are..." I saw him. He was standing in a clear circle looking around. "I see you." I whispered as I hung up the phone. I replaced it in my pocket walking up to him.
"Hey?" I nudged his arm. He turned that beaming smile on his face.
"Hey." He grinned. I wanted to touch him but I wasn't sure if I should. As always he seemed better about this stuff. His hand slipped into mine.
"Where are we going?" he asked.
"There's some place I wanted to show you. But uh, well I'm not sure if you'll enjoy it." Now that he was standing beside me I wasn't sure about my plans for the day. What did he like to do? Should I ask him? Maybe tell him what I planned and he can tell me if he wants to do it?
My wondering thoughts were silenced by the press of tender lips to mine. It was so softly done. I pulled his body against mine. He felt right. I didn't know any other way to describe it. Holding him like this just felt perfect. He pulled away.
"As long as your beside me, I think I will like it." He said. He glanced down. I saw his cheeks redden.
"Hey, are you ok?" I asked pushing his hair back so I could see his eyes.
"I'm really scared, Ritsuka." He whispered. His breathing was coming out all ragged. I pulled him out of the flow of the pedestrians. Finding a bench I sat him down beside me. His head was against my chest. I rubbed his back.
"I won't hurt you." I whispered he shook his head against my shirt.
"No, its not that." He lifted his head. "I really like you but, I can't stop thinking about..."
"Yuki." I growled. He nodded as tears came to his eyes. I brushed them away.
"I'm not going to say I like that he comes to mind so much, but I will try to understand. I mean it's not like you got closure with him. You didn't stop loving him." I muttered the last.
"No." He whimpered.
"OK, here's the thing. I will take you to places I like. If they remind you of Yuki we leave and find something else. Let's build our own memories." I offered. He looked at me with that blank stare of his.
It was slow, like watching the sun rise. One moment it's dark then you see the light creeping in. Gently the light pushes the dark away and all there is, is color. A beautiful display of the most glorious colors nature can give you as a new day is brought to life. That's what Mafuyu's face was like.
He sat there looking at me with this dark haunted look. Then, as my words sank into him, he began to shine. The light etched its way across his face. His smile came back. His eyes glowed with it. He nodded.
"Yes, let's make our own memories, so I can forget Yu..." his voice choked up on the name. I shook my head.
"NO!" I screamed at him clasping his cheeks in both my hands. "No." I said a little softer. "I don't want you to forget him just to date me." I said. He blinked. "I just want to make you happy." I said. I let him go to turn away. He threw himself into my arms.
