Many Moons Ago...

Fresh from the battle in Sokovia, the Avengers, including their new recruits, Wanda Maximoff and Vision, just arrived at the Avengers tower. However, they will be moving out of the tower soon due to security and practicality purposes. The Avengers have new recruits and they will need a bigger and safer space for training. Including a better storage facility for suits, weapons and other equipment, and a separate building dedicated for SHIELD since they are now slowly coming back to operation. Thanks to Tony's financing, SHIELD started the renovation of an old warehouse in Upstate New York that will soon be turned into the new Avengers Compound.

Upon arrival, Wanda feels nothing but fear, torment and... grief. Almost every ounce of negative emotion has surrounded her and it will definitely consume her if she doesn't allow herself to breathe. And since she doesn't exactly know how to handle all of these at the same time, she might just cave. She can't understand what she's feeling anymore and after numerous accounts of hysterical outbursts during the trip from where Sokovia used to be to the Avengers tower, she doesn't have any tears left to cry. She's pained at the same time, she feels numb.

Steve showed her around the basic rooms that she might be needing to go during her stay but  all she hears are muffled sounds coming out of the Captain's lips and a loud ringing in her ears as she continues to stare into thin air. Just following Steve's steps until they finally come into a halt.

"Wanda," Steve said, trying to catch the Sokovian's attention.

She finally looked up and saw the Captain's head that's slightly tilted with eyes expressing both concern and curiosity. He knows that after the trauma she experienced during the battle and the fact that she just lost her twin brother in the end is extremely painful. It's a tremendous loss for her. Knowing that he's the only family she has left and now... he's gone.

"Sorry. Yes?" she mutters, barely sounding audible enough for him to hear.

"That's okay." he assures her, placing his hand gently on her shoulder. "So, this will be your room for now while we wait for our new home to be finished. Romanoff should be able to provide you some of her clothes until we purchase new ones for you." he then says, turning the doorknob and opening the door for her. The younger girl just nodded once as she slowly steps inside of her temporary bedroom.

But before she had the chance to close the door, Steve placed his hand to stop it from fully closing and opened it a little wider for him to have eye contact with her. "Wanda, I am not a person who would compare experiences and rate them from worse to just extremely awful. I know what an immense loss this is for you. I'd like to let you know that the Avengers are a group of people who are misfits and definitely an outcome to some sort of trauma they experienced in their lives. Each member has a story of their own. I know how alone you must feel right now but I want to assure you that you're not at all alone. And we're right here when you need us. You're now more than just a soldier to the team, you're family. So let us know if you need anything. Okay?" he pointed out as he flashed the most genuine and comforting smile.

"T-thanks." was all she can say, not having enough energy to compose anything more to say to him. She closes the door but not before she can at least show a very weak smile to the Captain.

Weeks passed since the battle and Pietro's funeral. And Wanda never left her room much, they only saw her during the funeral which she didn't even finish because she cannot really stomach the entire painful ceremony and that was it. Or if she ever left her room, it was probably the times when no one is in the tower or everyone is fast asleep. But no one ever saw her leave her room to eat or get a drink. So the Avengers took it upon themselves to bring food to her door, knock and leave it for her to take in case she gets hungry.
