Twenty-Four

Things with Alexis and Iain were getting more and more tense. Iain was being off with her as she knew that there was a reason Jordan had suddenly decided to tell Iain about their daughter.

Alexis knew how Iain was sleeping on the sofa. He didn't want to be around her. Or so he said. But Alexa knew that something more was at play here.

When she woke that morning, she heard giggling. She left the bedroom and saw Iain sitting with Angel on the sofa. "Hello cutie girl. I didn't know you were coming."

Angel smiled but Iain spoke. "Ainslee is taking Evie to see Cal's grave. She's asked if we can take her to daycare today."

Alexis nodded. She smiled and looked to Angel. "Have you had breakfast?" She asked.

"I has pancakes. Mummy made them with mine sister," Angel said as she followed Alexa into the kitchen. "Daddy sad. Why?"

Alexis smiled. She picked her up. "Daddy is just having a hard time right now. But don't worry. He still loves you," she told her.

"Me know. I just no want him to go stars like Evie daddy," Angel said as she toddled off.

Alexis sighed. Knowing how Iain's actions weren't just affecting her. And she knew it needed to stop.

Alexis went into work with Iain. He walked off with Angel leaving her standing there. She saw Ainsley and walked over to her. "Hey. Iain told me you took Evie to see Cal?"

Ainsley nodded. "Yeah. I don't think she realised he was gone until she saw the grave. She was always asking when he was going to come back. I found it harder to explain he wasn't. And my heart broke."

Alexis smiled and took her hand. "It'll be okay."

"Anyway. My friend is still trying to Work out what's going on with Jordan. Now she's said that Jordan has been going to a hospital. But she doesn't know what department or ward she's visiting," Ainsley told her.

Alexis sighed. "What the hell is she up to? I honestly don't know," she said.

"We will find out. I promise you."

Alexis nodded and sighed. But she just didn't know anymore.

Alexis was sitting in the staffroom. She was having her break. She looked up as Connie walked in. "Ainsley says you're worried about Iain? Is there anything I can do to help?"

Alexis shook her head and smiled. "It's fine thank you. I'm just not letting it stress me out. I'm not letting anything happen to my baby. Not when they need me," she said.

Connie nodded and smiled. "If you need anything, then let me know. I care about the staff in my ED. And if one of you is hurting or anything, I want to help you."

"Thanks. I appreciate it."

Connie walked off. Alexis sighed and rubbed her stomach. She hated how everything was getting more and more messy.

Later on that evening, Alexis walked into the flat. She saw Iain sitting there. He took her hand and smiled. "I'm sorry for everything that's happened. I love you and I want it to work with us."

Alexis smiled and nodded. But would everything work out? Especially when the truth of what Jordan was up to finally came out?
