My eyes fluttered open, the bright light from the sun entering through the thin, (F/C) and beautifully decorated curtains. I turned to my other side, facing away from the window, pulling the blanket upward as I shifted into a comfortable position.
I closed my eyes but shot them open within a second once more after realizing that North Korea wasn't beside me. I sat up, the blanket lowering to my lap. I searched the room for him, but he was nowhere to be seen. Usually, I would wake up to see him changing into his more professional clothing, but this time I believe that I have woken up late.
Swinging my legs over the edge of the bed, I yawn and stretch out my limbs. My feet touch the ground and I wiggle my toes. I felt great, the long-awaited rest I had been anticipating had finally been completed. Standing up, I walk forward and take a small turn to my right, stopping before a mirror. Below the mirror was a nightstand with multiple different items and objects. There was a chair that had been pushed in underneath the space of the nightstand last night. I pull it back and sit down, readying myself for the day. Afterward, I would move on to brushing my teeth and performing my other morning tasks.
It has been a while since I have last seen my friends, everyone who I once served to protect and fight for. It has approximately been about a year and every day I have prayed for them to come and attempt to rescue me. I wasn't going to give up hope, even if it has been an entire year. Surely, they couldn't have forgotten about me.
Exiting the bedroom, I turn and take a right. I walk down the hallway before taking another right. I placed my hand on the doorknob, twisting it and slowly opening the door. I stepped inside to see my baby, (C/N), sleeping peacefully in their crib. Approaching their side, I gently brush the back of my hand against their forehead.
"I would love to stay with you, my precious butterfly, but today Akumi will be looking after you," I whispered. "I've got things to do today. I promise, though, I will be back in time for all of us to hang out as a family."
(C/N) seemed to react to my words, kicking their tiny feet a little bit before going back to holding still. I smiled and leaned down, kissing their forehead before leaving the room, making sure to be as quiet as possible to not wake them up.
I made my way downstairs, and as soon as I reached the second to last step, there was a knock at my door. A small smile tugged at my lips as I approached the front door. Unlocking it, I gently crack the door open and peek my head around, only to meet with the very caretaker I had mentioned, Akumi. She was extremely nice, having a bright smile that no one could resist. Even with North Korea's coldness, she still smiles, and I am quite impressed by that.
