A shorter chapter than normal but hey! a bit of grim fluff!
Y/n deadpanned at the state of the building in front of them. Honestly, it looked like it would cave in and crush her in her sleep if she stepped foot into that building. "Maybe it has a little too much charm."
"Truly, truly. Please, step inside." Crowley placed a hand on the door and it opened with a loud creak and moonlight poured into the room. Horrible would be an understatement. Furniture was thrown everywhere, paintings were crooked, wallpaper was ripping from the wall, and dust coated everything like a thick blanket looking akin to snow. Cobwebs hung from every space they could see.Y/n's face scrunched up in disgust at the sight of the room. If the front room looked this bad then imagine what the places like the bathroom looked like. Y/n shuttered and made a mental note to get her hands on cleaning supplies...and tools...and a hazmat suit.
"This should keep you nice, cozy, and out of the elements. I'll be off, that research isn't going to take care of itself after all. Make yourself at home and do NOT go wondering about the school. Until we meet again!" And with that, the Crow man walked away and closed the door behind him. The slam from the door caused vibrations to resonate through the building causing dust on the roof to come down like a small avalanche.
"ugh. How appalling." She said as she felt around the wall for a light switch. She felt a bump and flicked up to which light flooded into the room. "At least there's running electricity."Y/n set out and thankfully found a broom and dustpan and began vigorously sweeping as if her life depended on it. Around 3 hours later, the h/c haired girl sighed in relief. She was finally able to get all the dust and cobwebs out of the front room and found a cleaner (clean enough to sleep comfortably in) room. Then the sudden pittering of rain and a soul signature caught her attention. "Oh it's raining." Then something cold dropped on her head causing her to look up. There in the ceiling was a hole. Multiple holes. Y/n face contorted in annoyance. "There's holes as well."
"Gah! It's really coming down!" A familiar voice exclaimed. If she remembered correctly, that soul signature and voice belonged to the fire cat named Grim.
"Gyahaha! What's with that dumb look on your face?" what look? Y/n's face was its default setting. Completely monotone."Woah what a nasty scar!" Ok this time, y/n glared at him. "Anywho, if you're wondering how I got here, sneaking back into this school was easy peasy for someone as great as me!" Grim stated proudly. "If you think a small setback like getting thrown out would stop me then you've got another thing coming.""Why?" Y/n's voice quietly spoke. Grim's ear twitched at the sound.
"Huh?"
"Grim. Why do you want to get into this academy anyways?"
"That's easy. I want to be a great sorcerer. NO. The best sorcerer! It's my destiny. And to do that I'll have to go to the best school that teaches magic. I waited for the Ebony Carraige but..." his ears drooped down and his eyes got a bit glossy.
"But it never arrived. Did it?" Grim frowned a bit.
"The Dark Mirror has no eye for great talent like me. But I'll show them."Y/n could feel a little sting in her heart. Grim reminded her of Black☆Star in a way. They both wanted to be recognized for their greatness but not everyone takes them seriously.
"Grim," he was taken aback a bit at the seriousness of their voice, "I understand your reasoning and your passion to be known as something great. But I don't tolerate how you go about showing it. You could've injured or worse killed someone. Do you really think that a school would want to let in someone who killed another?"
Though that statement was kinda bullshit seeing as the DWMA is partially designed to teach kids to be able to 'kill' and collect souls. But it's not like she would tell anyone that any time soon.
Grim was silent. He knows that she's right. No school would tolerate having a student there if they had a record of harming others. He felt a hand gently place itself on top of his head. He looked up to meet the soft smile of the e/c-eyed girl. "However, I do believe that you can show them that you can be great."Grim felt a stinging in his eyes and tiny nose. He rubbed his nose with the back of his paw. "I-I don't need your words when I know that's true."
Then a drop of water from a leak in the ceiling came and splashed onto grim's head causing him to shriek. "Gah! A leak? The water's gonna put out my adorable ear fire!" Y/n went back to their normal deadpan expression as they looked up at the small hole.
"Oh. Guess I'll have to get a few buckets," she muttered. Grim looked at her weirdly.
"Can't you just use your magic to close it up?" he asked. Y/n thought for a bit and said,
"Magic is strong but what would happen if I fell asleep and the spell wore off? Plus, I could but I run the risk of creating a bigger hole." The e/c eyed girl began to walk away while scratching the stitches under her left eye with her pinky. "Time to go get some buckets I guess."
