When you're described as someone who rarely gets some shuteye that means you hardly get past an hour (3 hours if any being above is feeling generous) of sleep. But the one night you finally so get some sleep and you're woken up, you're gonna feel pretty pissed right?
Right?
Well imagine this, a person who's sensitive to insanity and barely gets any sleep at all, finally gets some sleep after being unintentionally whisked away to some unknown world and having to sleep in a dusty rigidity old building.
Said person is woken up at the ass crack of dawn by a bunch of ghosts playing a prank.
Said person also has a fucking weapon and can quite easily execute the ghost in their sleep.
The question becomes, not when they kill the ghost. It's how long the ghost can hide before- Do I smell food?!
Y/n proceeded to ignore the small bickering of Grim and the ghost when she smelt food.
"Good morning, you two. Did you sleep well?" Crowley asked with a smile as he entered the surprisingly clean room. Grim deadpanned,
"Oh yeah, all nice and cozy til I fell through the floorboards-just how ramshackle did you let this place get?" grim continued annoyed. "The ghost woke me up" "Please shush Grim." y/n cut the little creature off with an absolutely dead look on her face. Crowley looked towards the girl and asked the same question. "I'm not dead so that's good I guess."
Crowley laughed a bit, "So cheeky! Even after having been dumped here from another world, you're still very spirited! That trait will serve you well!" Y/n rolled her eyes, 'Spirited my ass.'
"I have come to discuss your tasks for the day."
"Alright. Please get out so I can change." y/n waved a dismissive hand with a yawn.
They walked down to the lobby of the dorm and sat at the furniture.
Y/n adorns a black tank top, a large dark blue long-sleeved jumpsuit with the upper half off and wrapped around the waist, and a bulky utility belt. Her goggles rest on top of her head, her long gloves sat snuggly on her hands, and a mask that covers the bottom of her face hangs by the strings around her neck.
Grim sat in y/n lap as the girl tiredly tried to grasp the work of the day; subconsciously petting the space between Grim's ears (to which he surprisingly didn't bat away). "Today, you are to clean the campus. Seeing as the campus is quite large, doing that would be impossible without magic. So I'd like for you to start on Main Street, from the main gate to the library, understood?"
"Ok."
"Make sure to keep a close eye on Grim and make sure he doesn't cause a scene."
"Understood."
"I'm counting on you. And when you're done, you can have lunch in the cafeteria. Now then, work hard!" Once again the man left, such a shame he left one of his credit cards on the table with their breakfast.
Grim pointed from his spot in y/n's lap. "No way I'm doing any cleaning. I want to go to the classes and learn super cool spells-"
"Grim."
"What?"
"Remember he said there's food if we finish on time."
At the mention of free food, he was on board.
-----Time skip---
After walking around, Grim and y/n ended up at main street. The crisp wind blew gently through the beautiful green leaves and the pavement made like a red carpet as it framed seven statues. Four on the left and three on the right. Each statue was unique and as y/n walked past, she felt her eyes linger longer on the ones to the right.
"Wooooow! This is Main Street? It looks so cool." Grim muttered from his spot on y/n's shoulder as the other was occupied with the pole of a broom/mop
[this is the type of object that has a screw mechanism on it so that you can switch out the mop and the broom ends and use the same handle. If neither end is being used, it works as a nice bow staff or thicc stick to hit anyone who gets too close].
"What's with these seven scary statues? The granny looks especially snobby." He said. Y/n looked closely and was reminded of the fairytales she was told as a child.
"That's-" "You don't know the Queen of Hearts?" a new voice said from behind them. Causing the duo to spin around quickly. y/n nearly hit him with the pole of the broom. Seriously how the hell are all these people sneaking up on her?!
"Queen of Hearts? Is she important?" Grim asked surprised.
"The Queen of Hearts was a ruler of Wonderland. She was a tyrant of sorts with an extremely bad temper. Anyone who broke her rules, for example having even a single white rose not painted red, or made her angry would have as she says, "Off with their head." One person told me that the paint used to color the roses get their pigment from the heads of those who oppose her or her rules." y/n explained while not removing her gaze from the statue not noticing the stares she got. "At least that's one version of what I heard."
"Whoever told you that got somethings mixed up? The Queen of Hearts was a powerful queen who lived in the Rose Maze. She valued her rules and discipline above all. Yes breaking the rules did mean 'off with your head.' "
Grim shuttered from hearing both stories. "Scary." The orange haired boy smiled, "Nah, I think it's awesome! No one wants to listen to a queen who's nice all the time, right?"
"I somewhat agree," their attention once again turns to the h/c haired girl, "If a ruler is too soft, they become a pushover, and their citizens and other rulers can take advantage of them. That leads to their downfall. But if they're a tyrant, they lose the faith of their people. The people, they don't want to have every little thing they do be controlled. They rebel. They overthrow the leader. The kingdom falls like a leaf in autumn." There was a lingering silence until grim spoke up again, "Anyways, who are you?"
The stranger sheepishly rubbed the back of his head, "I'm Ace. A newly minted Freshman. Nice to meetcha!" Ace said with a wink.
"I am the great and powerful Grim! A genius who'll become the bestest magician of all time! And this is my...'I feel as if my life is being threatened.' my friend. Yeah my friend."
"My name is Y/n Stein."
"Y/n? Nice ring I guess."
"Anyway Ace, Who's that lion with the scar? Is he famous?" Grim asked again. 'I mean if his statue exist then he must be famous. Actually if they're all grouped in the same place they all must be famous people in this world. No longer fiction. If they're here then could that mean that the other fairytales exist here?'
Apparently y/n had got extremely caught up in thought the only thing that snapped her out of it was when Grim's claws dug into her shoulder. "Grim," The creature ignored her and seemed to be annoyed by something. He had this look as if someone just stole his last can of tuna. Ace laughed, "I c-can't! It's too funny," 'No it's not.' Ace pointed at y/n,"You were summoned by the Dark Mirror on some fluke even though you can't use magic," he then pointed at Grim, "And you're a monster that wasn't even called but barged in anyway! Oh it took me everything not to lose it at the ceremony."
"That's so rude." Grim muttered. Y/n stared at him with a blank look. Her eyes darkened over just a bit, 'I wonder if I were to remove his young would he shut up?'
"And now, after being turned away, you're hired as a janitor? Haha How lame!" He laughed again but was cut short when something nearly hit him in the head. "What the-"
"You keep talking shit and you're starting to piss me off. Maybe this 'magicless person' should humble your ass right now."
