The front door clicked open and in came two girls walking in meekly, they saw a dark skinned girl arranging cooked meal on the dining table setting dinner , perceiving the food aroma they became delighted and forgot their meek attitude earlier when entering the house and what they possibly did wrong.
"Aliyah you cooked dinner" Amanda exclaims cheerfully
"Where you expecting me to wait for you to come back and help me make the dinner?"
She said glaring at them
"And I can see you grace the house with your return " she added looking at the now mud stained tiles from their shoes wondering where they're coming from
"Where are you coming from?" She voiced out her question
"Common liyah , we are already home and we even make it before dinner" Sofia; the short brown haired fair skin girl interjected avoiding the question.
They rushed to their seats and start digging in the food not bothering about the look aliyah was giving them.
She finally sigh and let the matter go sitting down on her seat to start eating ,enjoying the prize of her hard work.
"Uhhmm" Sofia moaned when she shoved the food in her mouth
"Aliyah this is so delicious, you're a chef of a kind" she said her eyes closed
"Yeah and you even helped with onions and veggies so am not the only one taking the credit" aliyah commented sarcastically rolling her eyes along the line
"Common liyah "
"So what about the preparation of out graduation, is everyone done ?" Amanda sked cutting up their bickering
"Yeah am done with mine " aliyah said
"We don't have the dress for the party after the school one " said Sofia
"Then go naked " aliyah said rolling her eyes
"Please liyah" Sofia pleaded
"Nope"
"Leeeeeyaaaah" she wined
"Fine we can go tomorrow" aliyah said dismissing her annoying fly
"Yesss! I love you liyah" Sofia said enthusiastically before resuming her meal.
Aliyah rolled her eyes not bothering to reply back to her, she stood up after finishing her meal and packed the dirty plates and head to the kitchen to wash it herself since her so called best friends ran upstairs to avoid the chore.
After washing the plates she went upstairs to her room ,bringing out her laptop she tap video call to her dad,
It's an everyday routine they talk to each other before she goes to sleep .
"Hey princess " a middle aged man who looks a like with aliyah spoke after answering the call.
"Hi dad, how was your day?"
"It was fine and yours baby,hope all is well with you there?"
"Yes dad"
"How about your graduation preparation?"
"Me and my friends are shopping some party dresses tomorrow"
"Ohkay. You should sleep early ,am sure tomorrow will be stressful for your girly preparation, you know, buying dresses ,doing manicure ,making your hair and the skin whatever " he said the last part rolling his eyes
'What a childish papa I got here ' she thought to her self giggling at his attempt trying hard to make his jokes perfect .
"Okay, okay, you don't have to roll your eyes on that , so how's work?"
"It okay but stressful... And IH thank God you're finishing your studies,
Am passing my company to you immediately when you return and then I'll retire and travel around the world and enjiithe rest of my life " he finished with dreamy eyes like a kid talking about his dream future or teenage girl taking about her boyfriend or marriage, he sound so enthusiastic.
"Common daaadd.." She whined
" you've to let me rest for a little you know , after all the years I spend studying, I need a break"
"Okay. okay, any thing for my princess"
"And am sorry liyah that I won't be able to attend your graduation but I promise to arranged you a surprise when you return , and maybe I'll come and pick you at the airport"
"It's okay dad. I love you"
"You know I love you more than love itself , now go to sleep I've plenty work to finish" he shoo her with smile dancing on his lips
" okya bye and don't stress yourself too much and better go to sleep on time"
She closed the laptop and got down the bed and out of the room to the kitchen to get water,
After taking the water she went back upstair only to bump Into Amanda wearing heels and a thigh length gown and make up on her face , she sigh
"To party again" she stated instead of a question
"You know us too well"
"So where's you twiny?isn't she coming with you?"
"Of course she will how can Sofia miss a party "
"Hey! Here, am done" Sofia's voice comes to them cutting up their conversation before she starts descending the stairs to join Amanda .
She was dressed in a blues short jean and a fashionable vest with oink designs on it and her long brown hair tied in a high ponytail danced behind her as she descend
"Goodnight liyah"
"Goodnight, and don't drink too much so you can drive back,at least one of you should stay sombre cause am not coming to pick you up so don't even bother calling me. Drive safely " she waved them as they left the house leaving her to succumb to her bed .
