kadiebmore thank you for always being such a dedicated reader of my stories, it means the world to me!

Niall's eyes bore into me, a glare so full of anger I almost forgot why I came here.

"Listen, Niall, I'm sorry."

"Bull! If you were, you wouldn't have kissed me to begin with!"

I shifted uncomfortably from foot-to-foot. Why does he have to be so stubborn?

For the first time in a while, I was at a loss for words. But, not long after the silence, Harry and Ashton made their way to the door, angry looks on their face.

"Listen, buddy,

I don't know who you think you are, but you better stop this right now. Niall is our best mate and if you think you can just break his fragile heart like that, and lead him on, then you're wrong. Why did you do it?"

I looked Harry in the eyes, pleading he wouldn't continue. He then went silent, waiting for me to reply.

"It's not that I think you're a bad guy, Niall, 'cause you're not. I-"

"Well, obviously! You're the bad guy, Liam!"

"Will you let me finish? Every time I try to say something important, you interrupt me."

Niall rolled his eyes, but reluctantly went silent.

"I made a mistake, okay? It was stupid of me, and I was confused. I hope we can still be friends."

"Get out of here, Liam." he whispered, closing the door.

I sighed. "Okay, good luck tomorrow night."

The night everyone had been waiting for finally came,
performance night.

We decided to go with another one of my favourite songs, also by my favourite artist, Changes by David Bowie.

I looked down at my feet nervously as I walked over to the mike on stage. The elephant bells were so big I couldn't see my shoes from underneath them.

I could hear Louis give his whole spiel about the competition, and our band and Niall's band.

Niall.

I looked up and saw his ice blue eyes staring me down.

Just as this happened, Louis gave us the 'ok' to go.

~

"Mate, you killed it!"

"Thank you! I'm so glad we went with this song, it worked out perfectly!" I exclaimed, exiting the stage.

I could feel the glares of Skinney as we walked towards the back of the pub. I was incredibly anxious about the results of the Battle of the Bands competition, as the next set of bands were being voted on for the finals next week, tonight.

Niall, Harry, and Ashton's performance was brilliant. There's not a chance they won't make it through.

We wandered over to the actual bar portion of the building and I waited as the boys ordered drinks for themselves.

"Pint o' Guinness, please."

I whipped my head around to see none other than Niall.

He wouldn't look in my direction, but it was obvious he knew I was there. I awkwardly looked in the other direction, and by the time I had turned back around, Niall and his Guinness were replaced by Harry and Ashton.

"It's real brave of you to even be in a 10m radius of him, you know that, right?"

"Harry, don't start something you know you can't finish, okay, mate?" Ashton quietly pleaded, glaring at his bandmate.

"Why would I do anything? I'm just making sure he knows to not mess with our Niall."

I raised my eyebrows in disbelief, knowing neither Harry nor Ashton would ever hurt a fly, but decided it would be best to not provoke anyone anyway.

"I won't go near him, mate. It's a lot more complicated than you blokes think." I assured, glancing their way.

"Enlighten us then," Ashton suggested, and I started my long explanation.

~

"So, what you're saying is that you don't want to get ahead of yourself with Niall," Harry concluded, a look of uncertainty clear on his features.

"I don't really know how I feel. I thought I might be a homosexual at the end of my relationship with Danielle, and I know there isn't any public acceptance here anyway, given that I'm only 18. I don't want a next relationship to be one where I was in fear or unsure of how I felt or it to be a rebound or for it to feel like one or,"

"Liam, mate, calm down. There are very few places that you'll feel accepted in your life, and if you follow a 'homosexual lifestyle', as they say, you're not going to find almost any, anywhere, ever. It's the bloody worst feeling because everyone thinks you're an abomination or something. I think, however, you need to explain all of this to Niall. I'm sure he'd be more understanding once you explained that to him. I think part of the reason he's been upset lately is because of the high tensions of this competition and his overall failure of a relationship life," Harry ranted, ending it with a small laugh.

"Good thing I already heard it, Burt. You don't have to repeat your story."

I felt my face flush as I discover Niall had been sat right next to me this entire time.

"Niall, I -"

"Liam, I bloody well understand. I wish I didn't, but that's life. It's unfair. Situations are better here than they are in Ireland, so I consider myself somewhat lucky."

I nodded in agreement and started to speak again, only to be disrupted by Louis.

"The part of round 2 we've all been waiting for - the results of tonight's performances.
I won't make you lads wait any longer. The four bands moving on to the next round are: Sweet Emotion, the Aerosmith tribute band, Lucky, Skinney, and Out of Sight! Congratulations, see you all next week!"

As we begin to celebrate the success of the night, a young bird enters the bar area with a concerned look on her face.

"Any lad in here own a blue Ford that was parked out back?"

The room was silent for a few moments until Zayn spoke up, claiming the vehicle as his. We all follow outside to his car, and the sight in front of us was horrific.

The words "Disco Sucks" painted on the side and front driver's side window smashed in made me think it could be directed towards me.

Before I could think more of it, a yelling man ran towards me and knocked me to the pavement.
