Chapter 1

"This is Why We Don't Go Down Alleyways."

(I would highly suggest- in fact, I'm asking- you read the chapters before this. It would make everything make a lot more sense. You don't have to read "Act 1", but please read the rest so you know what everyone looks like, and the prologue, which is really important. Anyways, without further ado... Black Ink! Enjoy!)

...

"Time to get your splat on, New Reef!" "We're coming at you live from the center of Coral Square here in New Reef City!" "Together again to bring you the news, we're Shoreline! I'm the red rocker you all know so well, Marin!" "And I'm Curry, everyone's favorite deep-sea blue octoling!"

"Take a look at the new multiplayer maps and modes for today." "Play that guitar, Mare!"

"Hey Mare- we on for Salmon Run later today?" "You know it- Mr. Grizz already called me in anyway." "Cool! An- Oh my Cod! Mare! Look at the teleprompter!" "Breaking news... a mini Zapfish has been... SQUIDNAPPED? Holy shi-" "Ahem. I hope that poor little guy gets home soon. And I hope someone remembers we can't curse on live."

"Oh- right. Um- anyways, on other news- Professor. Spike P. Pufferfish and his company- Puffer Industries- is opening a new weapon emporium store in New Reef! The grand opening is next week." "So be ready to stock up on the best weapons sold on the planet! And it's opening a week before the next Splatfest too! How handy!"

"Anyways, that's a wrap, folks!" "Thanks for tuning in! I'm Curry-" "And I'm Marin! And we're Shoreline! See you next time, New Reef!

     ...

"And... CUT!" The director yelled. I immediately collapsed, letting all of the breath I had kept in my throat while reporting. I'm Marin(Mare-in). I made the name myself- it's a mix between "maroon" and "mariner". I'm the guitarist of a band called Shoreline. We came about 5 years ago. We practically blew up- it was amazing. About 2 years later, we were asked to take over as hosts on the news cast here in New Reef City. It's where we've been ever since.

I somehow became the fan favorite- I don't know how, but I did. It caused people to want to really know me- problem is, I'm just an alter ego. My real identity would make people hate me.

You see- my real name is Fiona. I'm an inkling. I was born with a disorder no doctor had ever seen before- I have black ink. Not only that- my ink makes it so I can do things other people can't- it's weird. I've been shunned all my life just for my ink color- doctors have even given up on seeing me- claiming I'm "evil". But- I've always wanted to be an idol- that's why I created Marin. I didn't know she would become this big- how was I?

"Another report done." My Shoreline partner said. My parter was a octoling with dark blue ink named Curry. She plays an adjusted keyboard- which played mostly piano but other instruments too- and sang. She originally said I should do it, because, and I quote. "Your voice is so much better than mine! It's so pretty!" But I refused.

"You know it." I sighed. On the show, my guitar changed the teleprompter, like Marina's turntable. I just had to strike a cord, and it changed. The fans loved that I could do that- so  now we can't report without it.

"Hey- are you okay?" Curry asked. "Yeah, just tired." "Ah. So- what are you doing later, Mare?" "What did I say about calling me that out of recording? You're aloud to use my real name when the public isn't around." "Okay, sorry, Fiona." "Hey- you don't have to make fun of it." I said, smiling. "So- what are you doing later today?" "Nothing much- just doing a few shifts of Salmon Run for Mr. Grizz with my friend Sally."
