CHAPTER EIGHT: THE WONDERLAND BALL

Eric and I went to the cell phone store first, I bought myself a touch screen Android 2.3.6 smart phone, next I went to put the check in my credit card account, and while I did that, Eric offered to put the contacts into my phone from the paper. Once we were finished, we had to stop by somewhere that I guess was very important, and apparently that meant I got to meet more people so I went along with it, happily.

We went to the Upper West Side and we now were standing at the doorway of a studio apartment. Should I be worried?

The door opened after a few seconds, and the person that opened it was a blonde haired girl with bangs down to her eyebrows, and she was super pretty.

I've never gone a day without talking to Alice or the girls this long, but I guess I have to get used to things because if I talk to them I might want to really go back home, and if I do that, I think I'll get into some deep shit.

"Dylan, this is my friend Jackie Henry. Jackie, this is my sister, well, adopted sister, old friend of Bart's,"

"I think she gets it," I mumble.

"Sorry, Jackie, this is Dylan,"

"It's so nice to finally meet you, come in, we heard that you just got here and we really wanted to meet you before you go eat dinner with Serena, I feel so bad that they brought you here the hours after you got out of the hospital," Jackie says, as she turned around and walked into her house and I walked in after Eric.

"Who's at the door Jackie?" One guy asks, with short brown hair and he walked out of the room on the left, he came out with another guy, who sort of had Liam's hair when he straightened it.

Cut it out Dylan, you can't keep bringing up there names, you'll just miss them more.

"This is Dylan, you know, Chuck's adopted sister as of like, a month ago but they couldn't contact her because she was in Cabo for two weeks and then they couldn't get a hold of Merydith,"

"We know Jackie, she hasn't stopped talking about you since Chuck told us about you." The guy with black hair says. "Hi, Dylan, I'm Derrick, Jackie's older brother, and this is Nate Archibald."






About three months has passed since I've moved to New York, and tonight was the night of the Wonderland Ball.

I am dating Nate and I haven't thought about One Direction since I left. They were just famous people, and my Faceless "career" went down the drain like a lot of other things in the past month.

Knowing Chuck and Blake, they were always, I don't know, arguing? Well, they were "arguing" about who they were taking to the Ball so that's what they were doing. Jackie was making dresses for some girls at school, Eric has been with Jonathon so I haven't seen him that much, and lastly, there was something weird going on with Bart and Lily, so something was definitely up at home.

Nate was on his way over, and I was getting fitted for my dress. When I was finished, my phone rang.

"Dylan Bass speaking." I say, wiggling into my jeans.

"Dylan? It's Louis, we need to talk."

I completely froze right as Nate walked inside.

"Hey, are you okay?" Nate asks, walking towards him.

"I got to go." I say to Louis and then hung up the phone right as Nate was two inches from my face.

"Who was that?" He asks, after getting me a kiss and hugged me.

"Someone from back home." I say, buring my face into his neck like Niall does.



I was wearing a dress that, was actually me. Ever since I got to New York, I thought that this could be a fresh start, a new me, the REAL me, and Nate and everyone else fell in love with it and I'm glad. My dress was strapless, from my cleavage to my hips I had what looked like Newspaper, black and white, designed by Jackie, the rest of the dress was black and flowy, and it went down half of my thighs. My hair was down and curled with my bangs in a bump. My shoes were black pumps with a lot of tiny straps and red bottoms. My make up was naked eye shadow, white eyeliner on the waterlines, black eyeliner above and under the eye, and mascara. Thank God that I went to the Spa with Serena and got a tan or else I wouldn't be putting this off right now.

I was waiting for Nate to get here, he was a few minutes late now but it was okay, I wasn't really worried.

Serena, Aaron, Lucy, and Derrick all went together in a Limo, Lily had already left, Chuck was walking out the door with some look a like that looked like Blake, and followed by them was Jackie and Eric.

"Do you want us to wait for you? We don't want you to be alone here." Jackie says, putting on her coat.

"We also don't want you skipping the ball to hang out with Nate upstairs in your bedroom, either." Eric says, also putting on his coat, and that's when the elevator door rang and Nate walked out with a jewelry box.

"Well, we'll be leaving now and expect you two to be in that Limo behind us before we leave." Eric says, walking behind Jackie to the elevator.

"Goodbye Eric," I say and then hugged Nate.

"Sorry I'm a few minutes late, the elevator came down with Serena and them and we chatted for a few minutes and when I went to click on the button, the elevator was already on its way back up to you so that's why I'm late." Nate says, then plants a kiss on my lips making me laugh.

"It's okay,"

"Good, now I have to give you something before we go, turn around."

I turned around and that's when I saw something shinny above my face and once it touched my skin I got goose bumps because it was cold. Once Nate was done putting it on, I looked down and noticed that it was a heart with an N in the middle. "I love it," I say, turning back around and kissing him.

"That's not all, now, I know that you have a ton of friendship bracelets on one arm and diamond jewelry on the other, and that's also why I got you this," Nate says, showing me two bracelets. One was very colorful made from string and the other was a gold charm bracelet.

"You don't know how much I love you right now," I say, wrapping my arms around his neck and kissed him again.

"We better get going, Jackie and Eric are waiting and I don't want to miss showing you off to everyone at school, did I mention that you look absolutely beautiful right now?" Nate says, as we walked towards the elevator.

"You didn't, but I knew you were thinking it."

Once we had gotten to the ball it was very normal. The three it girls were at their bests trying to make everyone miserable, Derrick and Serena glancing at each other every once in a while making sure Aaron and Lucy didn't see, Chuck and Blake were being no where in sight, and then me and Nate were happily dancing together. Lily was over by the gate making sure everything was set, but Bart was nowhere in sight either and I don't think he is even here because he would be there right next to Lily and he clearly wasn't.

"Why are Vicki and Jackie fighting?" Nate asks, as we stepped aside with some drinks and sat at one of the benches.

"They are? I didn't know that."

"Dylan, have you seen Charles?" Lily asks, walking towards us.

"He's up in the balcony, why?" I ask, standing up and Nate did the same thing after me.

"Bart's been in an accident."

"Nate, go find Serena and Eric, Lily, go to the hospital, I will find Chuck and meet you there." I say, then walked away towards the stairs.

I found Chuck and Blake about to kiss each other and that's when I cleared my throat. "Blake, can I talk to Chuck alone?"

She nodded and walked to the staircase, closing the door behind her.

"What's wrong?" Chuck asks, then took a drink of his juice?

"Bart's been in an accident, we need to go to the hospital." I say, and that's when Chuck dropped his glass and it shattered everywhere. Luckily we both weren't hurt and we rushed down the stairs and got into the Limo with Serena and Nate.

"Do you know what happened?" Serena asks, sitting next to Nate while I sat next to Chuck.

I shook my head. "Lily asked me if I had seen Chuck and that's when she told me he was in an accident."

After staying at the hospital, I finally got the nerve to call Louis back, well, I had Serena help me get the nerve to call Louis back, and she was going to be sitting right next to me when I did it too. Nate, Lily, and Chuck were in the ER waiting room waiting to hear anything, and me and Serena walked out into the regular waiting room so I could call Louis.

"It's about time you called me back."

"I'm surprised you answered, I was going to leave you a voicemail." I say, as Serena looked down at her phone to text Eric what was going on, he had already left with Jackie and Rufus to go back to the loft.

"The lads and I are in California."

"That's cool? What do you need to talk about?"

"How are you doing, Dylan?" Louis asks, as I put the phone in between me and Serena so she could hear too.

"I'm doing great, I miss having Dorota around but I'm handling it without her."

"Do you want to meet us somewhere tomorrow?" Louis asks, as Nate and Lily walked into the waiting room and then I noticed Chuck behind them.

"Text me the details and I'll try to make it, I have to go."

"Bart's dead." Lily says, and that's when Chuck walked to me quickly and hugged me tightly.

"Who died?!" Louis shouted and then I hung up.

Nate helped me bring Chuck to the Empire, and I left to go get me and Nate clothes to change out of, it was going to be a long night.

During the night, Nate had to go home and that's when Chuck started drinking and locked me into the bathroom. My phone was in the living room and that's when I starting hearing girls pleasuring Chuck in ways unknown to man, and the things I heard were pretty disgusting.

"Chuck? Where's Dylan?" Nate asks, about an hour later.

"She left, she couldn't handle the heat." Chuck says, taking another drink of his liquor.

"Nice try Chuck, her bag and phone is right there," Nate says, walking into Chuck's bedroom.

"Nate is that you?" I ask, on the other side of the bathroom door.

"Yeah I'm right here, hold on," Nate says, trying to unlock the door and a few seconds later he did.

"Trust me when I say that whatever Chuck has in that little black book, never try it, it sounds gross." I say, hugging Nate.
