Afternoon/Evening Time
Ethan's Point of View
The sun was beginning to set. I've been on the road for quite some time now, my head going a thousand miles an hour. I kept my eyes on the road, the quiet and murky road. I was driving in the absolute middle of nowhere, but I was on a mission. What was important to me is that Mia is alive, and she wants me to come and get her. My eyes left the road for a second, and I reached down and picked up a piece of paper from the front seat of my car. It was an email I had received from Mia, herself. The letter was as is:
From: Mia Winters
Sent: July 18, 2017 11:04 P.M. Tuesday
To: Ethan Winters
Dulvey, Louisiana.
Baker farm.
Come get me.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Was Mia really alive? Is this where she's been all this time for three years? Why did she choose now to contact me? I put the paper back down on the seat. All of this was really confusing me, but I wanted to take my chance to try and find Mia. I remember bolting out of the office as soon as I got the email, so I had to call Lewis to update him on my situation. I reached into my right pocket, trying to keep my eyes on the road ahead of me. I dialed Lewis's number, and the phone began to rang.
"Come on, pick up, pick up," I said. A few more rings went by until the line got picked up.
"Hello?" Lewis said. Thank God. I didn't know how to start my sentence.
"Hey," I started. "It's, uh--it's Ethan."
"Oh hey, you alright?" Lewis asked. "You just disappeared the other night." Physically, I was alright, but he had no idea how I was feeling inside. I felt sick to my stomach, but at the same time, I felt a huge sigh of relief.
"Yeah, yeah," I continued. "I'm good, I'm good. It's Mia. She's not dead, she's alive. She's back." It felt like a lot of stress was lifting off my shoulders telling Lewis this. He knew Mia had disappeared, but never wanted to bring her up in front of me, which I understood.
"They found her?" he asked. "How? What happened?" If only I knew the true answer.
"I don't know," I answered. "I don't know how, but she's back. She's back somehow." I started driving on a trail through the woods. My mind was telling me I was getting close to my destination.
"Maybe it's a prank," I continued. "She wants me to come and get her."
"Where is she?" Lewis asked.
"Dulvey," I replied. "Dulvey, Louisiana." Lewis sounded astounded by that location.
"Dude, it's been three years!" he exclaimed.
"I know, I know," I said, a bit annoyed. I took another deep breath.
"But what if it is her? I have to find out what happened." I heard Lewis take a deep breath.
"Alright man," he said. "Will you keep me updated? That's really far out."
"Yeah, of course," I responded. "I'll call you when or if I see her."
"Thank you," he said. "See you later." He hung up the phone. I turned my phone off and put in back in my pocket, both of my hands returning to the steering wheel. I was now coming into a tunnel of trees and bushes ahead. I had a feeling that I had reached my destination. I looked around me and saw that there was literally nothing but the green and yellow woods. The road had disappeared, and the sun was blocked from my point of view. I slowed the car down in front of a tree and stopped it. I put it in park and killed the car engine. I felt a little claustrophobic being surrounded by these woods, but being cooped up in the car was killing me for seven hours. I opened the door and stood up outside, immediately getting the rank smell of the Louisiana bayou going up my nose.
