Ethan's Point of View
This part of the house was all covered with vines. Vines were coming out of the windows, the doors, and even the chimney. It looked like this place was deserted for years. Well, at least the horrid smell started to die down. I walked around to the left of the house and saw there was an empty swinging bench right next to the archway. The chains were completely covered in rust, and it was barely able to move. I then turned away and began to walk under the wooden archway of the house. This place looked so beat up, why the hell was Mia here? Every window I walked past was boarded up with chicken wire, metal bars, and barbwire. It's like this family didn't want anyone to show up here. I looked around to try and find an entrance to the house, and to my surprise, there was already a wooden door open. Was someone here ahead of me? Maybe it was that man I saw earlier down at the bayou trail. I still wondered how the hell he just disappeared. I walked up to the front door, took a deep breath, and entered inside, slowly.
I found myself in a small, dark room. There was a metal shelf to my right with an empty cardboard box at the top. To my left, there were boards of wood and green window panes leaning against the walls. I walked over to examine the window panes, but as I treaded, I suddenly heard the door behind my close. I turned around in a hurry, and ran to the front door. I grasped the door handle and gave it plenty of tugs to try and get it open, but the door would not budge.
"Damn!" I said. It looked like I was trapped in here now, unfortunately no going back. I turned around to try to find the next door that was in front of me, but I couldn't see a damn thing. I reached into my pocket and fidgeted around for my flashlight. I pulled it out, turned it on, and attached it to my shirt. This place was beginning to be creepy as hell, but something in my head keeps telling me to just keep going, and that Mia is alive in this house somewhere. I took a deep breath and slowly opened the next door in front of me. Not to my surprise, this place started to get even creepier. I slowly shut the door behind me, and found myself in a small, fucked up hallway. Cobwebs were hanging from the ceiling, mirrors and picture frames were leaning against the walls, and there was a pinch of light coming from outside. I walked up to what looked like a cabinet. It was covered in yellow duct tape and the handles were chained up. No use in trying to get in here. I looked to my right, and found myself in a dirty ass kitchen, still some sunlight coming from the windows. The only bad thing was that the horrid smell from before was back. The kitchen was so tattered, dirty, and broken. Trash bags and pans were lying everywhere. I noticed there was a pot on the dining table. I went over, lifted the pot, and immediately came crawling out cockroaches. Inside the pot looked like what was animal guts and intestines. I wanted to throw up so bad. I then felt a tickle on my right hand. I turned it over and saw there was a giant cockroach crawling on my hand.
"Ugh! Fuck! Fuck!" I screamed. I quickly swiped it off of my hand, and ran over to the sink. The faucet was dripping, not water, but black sewer water on top of some dishes. Me being curious, and turned the cold handle off, and the dripping stopped. Right next to the sink was a broken microwave. I went to open it, and what I found inside made me want to puke. It was a dead bird, practically skinned and blood being every where. I quickly shut the microwave door and held back my gag reflex. I, then, moved over to the fridge. It looked like it was partly ajar. I went to open the fridge, but it was super tough. Using both of my hands, the door slowly opened, and the hinges were stuck with this weird goop. The fridge was covered in this shit. It practically resembled vomit. There were old soup cans, a box of spaghetti, and more maggots squirming inside the drawers. I slammed the door shut and backed up into the dining table. I found a newspaper on the table known as "The Dulvey Daily." A couple headlines read:
"GHOSTS SIGHTED IN BAYOU" and "OVER 20 MISSING IN 2 YEARS"
I was now really questioning myself as to what I was doing here. Maybe I should've just stayed home. Maybe the email was a prank. Who the hell knows?
I entered the next room and was immediately faced with a flight of stairs. Hmm, creepy house and stairs? Last time I checked those two didn't go together so well. Maybe Mia was up there, though. I began to walk upstairs, elevating my way past a portrait of a person with a bag covering their head. When I reached the top of the stairs, I noticed a flashing red light on the wooden post in front of me. It was a button to activate the stairs. There were more? I went over to push the button, but nothing happened. Maybe this was a trigger to get into the attic or something. I walked around the post and saw there was a desk, a chair, and a dresser. A lit lamp was sitting on the desk. Out of all places, this is the room where the electricity works. I then noticed a little black box on top of the dresser. It was a VHS tape labeled "Derelict House Footage." I decided to take this along with me, and put it in my backpack. Maybe if there was a VHS player around here, I could find out what really happened inside this house, and possibly know Mia's whereabouts. I quickly turned around and ran down the stairs.
I walked a little more down the remaining hallway, and found yet another closed door on my right. It led into what looked like a little living room. There were a couple lounge chairs, a couch, a coffee table, and a piano. I walked over to the couch and saw a bunch of papers scattered everywhere on the floor, but out of all of them, one photo caught my eye. I picked it up, and the photo showed a woman sitting down. Her face was blurred, but she was wearing a tank top and had long brown hair.
"Mia?" I stuttered. I crumpled the photo in my hand and dropped it on the ground. I then noticed another photo on the coffee table. This one showed what look like the shoulder of the man I saw before down at the bayou. He was looking at a pair of human legs lying on a bed. If this man had anything to do with Mia's disappearance; if he hurt her, he was a dead man. I angrily put the photo back onto the table. To my right, I noticed a fuse box on the wall, and it was missing a fuse in the third spot. Maybe that's why the stairs to the attic upstairs wasn't working. I then walked over to the piano. I wonder if it still works? As I went to push a piano key, the cover immediately thumped down, making me jump a little bit. Well, so much for that. I turned to my left and saw something that made me exhale a sigh of relief. It was an old tv with a VHS player on top! I quickly ran over to the static-showing television, and got the VHS tape out of my backpack. I put the tape in the player, and the screen suddenly went to that rainbow standby screen. It then changed to a title card with a whole bunch of information on it.
