Libber was fourteen and everything started to go downhill.

Yes a lot of teenagers say things like that but Libber thinks she was pretty reasonable in the statement.

Her world was on the verge of a war and her school was caught dead in the middle of it.

She had gotten good with her whip and even brought it back to Ray and his dad to get it redone. She even learned a few tricks with it and created her own style of fighting unlike anything you'd ever find in a book.

She was almost getting to the point where she thought she might be comfortable with the title of master of lightning. Of course she wasn't there yet but, eventually.

Then one day at school everyone was out in the courtyard and the earth began to shake violently.

It had seemed like an earthquake.

Why couldn't it have just been an earthquake?

The rumbling ground turned into snakes clawing out of the terra and into the school yard full of children who panicked on site.

Constrictai. Libber froze staring at the serpentine as they began to attack innocent students.

These kids that they were attacking, some of them couldn't be any older than ten and yet here they were, suffocating in the python grip of the black and orange snakes.

Something in Libber snapped.

"HEY!"

Several reptilian heads turned to her.

"PICK ON SOMEONE WORTH YOUR TIME!" She yelled. The offending snakes released their holds on the kids who quickly ran inside.

Libber got what she wanted. All eyes were on her.

"And what makes you so sure you're worth our time?" The biggest one asked, slithering up to her.

Her response was a swift CRACK to the serpentine's jaw.

She watched blood roll down her knuckles.

It wasn't hers.

The serpent licked the spot where one of his fangs had been ripped clean out of his face.

Libber puffed out her chest in pride.

And then they exploded.

Five of them came at her from all sides beating the everloving shit out of the fourteen year old. She couldn't even tell where they were punching anymore but she knew when her fist connected to scales she had done something right.

They were overwhelming her though. Her clothes had been torn up and she felt blood steadily leaking from her nose. She could only see out of one eye as the other began to swell beyond opening.

"RRRAGH!" she grunted sending out a shockwave of electricity blasting them back for a second.

That was a mistake.

"She's an elemental! Kill her!" The leader she had clocked yelled and suddenly she could feel the air in her lungs begin to leave her.

Her entire body was being squeezed and compressed and her windpipe felt ready to collapse. Black spots danced across her eyes and her ribs felt like they were ready to crack any moment.

It was a last ditch effort but with a few flickers of light suddenly she was about three feet away from the snakes who looked confused before she dashed inside the building.

She came booking it (HA!) down the school hallway turning sharply on her heels around a corner. She could hear them following her close behind as one yelled "SPLIT UP DON'T LET HER LEAVE ALIVE!" and she just managed to throw open the gymnasium doors when one caught up to her.
