While supporting Sherry, I headed to the vice principal's office in the back of the first floor. By the way, since then, five more people have quietly left. We open the heavy door a little and enter the room.
A tasteful reception set is placed in the center of the room, and one wall is lined with tall bookshelves. Documents were piled on the desk for work in the back, and a soft light shone through the north-facing window. It felt like a quiet adult room. Sherry started digging through the desk drawer as if she knew what she was doing.
"Don't make too much noise, please"
The pink hair on the other side of the desk nodded.
"Fuu"
I threw my feet onto the two-seater sofa and took a deep breath.
I'm so tired.
There's no doubt that Sherry is the main character this time around, but that's unlikely. She could never catch the scenario. In such cases, there should always be a partner character, but there is no such sign anywhere. It's a terrible failure scenario.
After much deliberation, I decided to intervene as a helper mob.
I'm a mob, I'm never active on the surface. Absolutely.
"Found it."
After that, Sherry came back from the other side of the table holding a document. Then, they lined up at the reception desk.
"What's this"
I don't understand the meaning of letters, figures, formulas, etc.
"This is an artifact called Eyes of Greed. This is probably the reason why it is currently blocking magic."
I was shown an ominous drawing of a sphere the size of a ping-pong ball.
"This Eyes of Greed absorbs and collects surrounding magical energy. Therefore, when it was activated, it became difficult to transmute the surrounding magical power."
"But, those guys in black were using magic normally?"
"I guess Eyes of Greed had memorized the magic power wave-length earlier. It was confirmed that it would not absorb the registered magic power. But first, we can't handle that kind of magic."
Hmmm.
"This artifact alone was troublesome, but Eyes of Greed could also use stored magical power. I thought it was an artifact that was broken because of that."
"If you can't do it for a long time, then it's okay for a short time."
"Yes. Currently, many magic swordsmen were being held in the auditorium."
"Hehh..."
"Eyes of Greed is something I researched and clarified beforehand. Considering the danger, I decided not to announce it to the academic world and keep it domestically... How could this be?"
Sherry looked at me with a gentle look.
"I wonder if there was something of the same type or if it was stolen. So, is there a way to deal with Eyes of Greed?"
"I have"
Sherry nodded and took out a large pendant.
"It's a dirty pendant."
"It is believed to be a control device for the Eyes of Greed. It wasn't a single unit in the first place, but it was probably meant to be used in combination with this control device. In this case, it stands as a flawed artifact that cannot store magical power for a long time. Your position will change."
