I woke up in a hospital bed, and saw Ren laying his head on the mattress while holding my hand firmly. That thought of worry immediately hit me after not even a minute of waking up. I tried getting up but I was too weak. He gripped my hand even tighter as I tried to move. I patted his shoulder, trying to wake him up, he just wouldn't budge.
"Ren .. wake up .. I need to know if Haru is okay or not." I whispered in his ear, he slowly opened his eyes, oh-so delicately. "Hmm..?" he looked at me with sleepy eyes, "How's Haru ?.." I asked worriedly, he sprung up from his position and looked a bit sad .. my hope started to fade away .. "Haru .. he's .. not doing so well." he replied with a stern-voice. "Oh .." I looked away, clearly not happy with the answer.
The day went by as I stayed quiet and depressed due to the fact that Haru wasn't doing the best. I kept staring at the tree that happened to be just outside the windows ..
It seemed to be withering away and dying, the color of the leaves had turned gray-ish brown; I wish I hadn't seen that tree. The hope that I had left that Haru would live and be okay, started to wither too. I regretted leaving him there. I wish I could just die along with him.

Haru's Thoughts.

"I wish we had more time to be together, my dear. If I had the chance, I'd want to spend each one of my lives with you. If only I knew, the term, 'together' meant the memories and not us. How can cupid .. how could you be so cruel .. ?"

End.

I woke up and looked outside my windows again. The tree .. the leaves had all fallen. Just then, the thought hit me. Haru might've died too .. Suddenly, the door to my room opened, it was Ren. He started walking towards me. He seemed like he had just been crying. "____-san .." he looked at me with sad and tired eyes, "He's gone".

That statement had killed me inside, but I was prepared for it. I had foreseen it. I simply smiled sadly at Ren, "I see .. I hope he's feeling better now." as I said those words, Ren looked at me with utter shock. He must've been surprised that I looked like I didn't care at all. But, trust me, it felt like every organ in my body had shattered. I spread my arms open and gestured Ren for a hug, he walked towards me and hugged me as he weeped on my shoulders; I won't lie, I shed some tears as well.

A few years had passed since Haru died, I had started moving on from him, along with Ren. Though, the vivid memories of him always lingered somewhere around my mind. The time we spent and the fun we had. Though I’m still grateful for the time I did get to spend with him.
